A small company who have started off making models ( in steel ) of industrial fuel tanks. I'll post a link later as I'm on my IPad but worth a look. They look excellent. Cheers Toto
To kick off .... here are some pictures ..... The main tanks are metal primed in grey. some nice detail with valve handles and ladder cages etc .... not bad at all...... the pipework feels like plastic ...... so not all metal construction ...... unless I'm mistaken but still sturdy enough. and just for an idea of scale ........ next to a class 25. there is a slightly larger version I think but I thought this was big enough given that I am not trying to portray a tank farm. All ready to weather or you could add to the fittings if you wanted to before weathering. nice model. cheers toto
Detail on those is great, Toto, even the flange bolts are visible......brilliant find, I'd say! Keith.
Very good for a ready to plant. Folks could probably quite easily make their own. £69.00 so .... Value for money ...... Make up your own mind. One thing I will say is that the packaging left something to be desired. Not the most protective as mine was rattling about in the box a bit. However it arrived undamaged so fair enough. Cheers Toto
Probably a comparable price to what Bachmann or Hornby would be asking (if they did them in '0' gauge) but theirs would only be in resin, rather than steel. Keith.
I'm thinking plastic tubs and smaller paint tins with 15 mm and 6 mm copper pipe and fittings plus plastic detailing parts and brass wire hand rails for anyone wanting to have a go at scratch building some.. Another nice addition Toto, just needs a small workmans office and away you go.
Are these actually O gauge industrial tanks ?? The ladders and caging looks a tad small for O gauge... Regardless, they do look good and I will say that they would look better on my layout than yours... Cheers, Gary.
Gary wrote: Personally I would say they are about right for O scale. For sure I would say the ladders are too big for OO or HO. Scratch building them would be easy as there is so much available from Plastruct and Knightwing. The only thing I could say could be done better, and I would be nitpicking! is there are no vents on top of the tanks. I'll get me coat. Cheer's, Pete.
No need for the coat. I questioned it when I first looked at it. If I can find a 7mm figure, I'll take a photo of it next to the ladder. cheers toto
Here is some photo's as promised. Hope this gives a better sense of scale. not to bad. These cages were tight. I've climbed a few. better if the figures were appropriately posed but it gives an idea. pretty good fit. and another ..... a rather portly chap this guy. ....... bit like his nibs...... the pieman. about right I'd say. we fatty again. and thats the last one for now. what do you fink. cheers toto
Fatty could loose some weight ! They do look good and the ladders are not that much out. Maybe the ladders were built for smaller people than Fatty ! Cheers, Gary.
I climbed a lot of those ladders over the years, the cages were useful for leaning against when the arms and legs protested! Couldn't do it now though, I'm the one who ate all the pies . Pete.
Just to resurrect this thread and let you see the small O gauge tank farm that I bought from Made In Manchester Modells some time ago. These really are fantastic models and far different from what anybody else is producing. I note from the website that they are bringing out products in 4mm as well do ....... watch this space. Toto
