    I will base this build on the Bittern goods shed store, see second picture on the following link: https://peninsulaessence.com.au/stopping-all-stations-to-red-hill/
    Since I Have built one version of the general goods store, I will build the other version. It will be a short plank made of what ever I have at hand. Have printed out the Scalescenes kit and mounted on board , as per instructions.

    Ok. I decided to have a go at at bit of kit bashing. I noticed on the photo that the Bittern goods store has a veranda. So with Inkscape drawing program, I drew up the new side profile. Tried to match the colour as best I could. And printed out adjusted side. Mounted onto thin card, cut and glued over existing side. I use Matt photo paper to print out the images. 20220421_150405.jpg 20220421_150558.jpg Latest photos. New roof created to suit new overhang. Used some balsa for bargeboards. Ramp relocated to the opposite side. Very happy with the result.

    You can't beat a bit of balsa wood for a natural timber 'effect', :)

    Since It seems I'm the only one interested in this competition, I will continue the build for my own experience. But if I'm the only one to enter I will withdraw the finshed product.

    I have made a water tank using Gormo's corrugated sheeting method . I found a round object, to wrap the corrugated sheet around, about the right size. (Happened to be the thin bar on the back of my bicycle). Made a lid with tin foil. The tank stand is made out of scrape balsa, and painted with cheap acrylics. The grass is just the old fashioned packet grass that someone kindly gave me. Just a mockup photo to show progress so far.

    Nicely done Phil.........:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:
    I`ve tried bending the foil before but I only did a half circle. I was considering using it for Nissen Huts and it worked fine. I haven`t scratch built any huts though, bought the kits instead...:facepalm:
    So you`ve done well to form a tank out of it. I`m guessing you just gently rolled it until it was the right shape for you.?
    The stand looks just right as well....good old Balsa......seems to be rarely used these days by modellers but it is terrific to work with.
    Do you intend to run a down pipe or two from the shed to the tank..?????

    Nice work Phil ! :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

    You are in it to win it and no one can take that from you. After all, you have put your time into entering the competition.

    Cheers, Gary.

    Yes will run some guttering, and pipes down to the tank. I used this method on my scrach built Stony pt station building. Also making some sacks of fertiliser with modeling clay. And balsa crates for the clay apples.

    Lovely work Vinylelpea and a great approach you have taken in this build so please don't withdraw from the competition as its not your fault nobody else has entered, in the past I too have been an only entrant as Gary and Gormo will vouch for... it was some time ago but the brief was to make an inside room using only a nine inch space... so I understand how it feels. My take was I'd entered and put a lot of effort into the making (as you have also) so if I was the only entrant then so be it... I still have the model and the prize to build which I shall do as time permits. :thumbs::tophat::cheers:

    cheers Yorkie

    There is still time for folks to enter but regardless of that, your entry counts and would be a worthy winner for at least taking the time to enter.

    Many thanks for putting in the effort.

    Doesn't look like I 've done a great deal. However I was given a ozito air brush and compressor set from my wife for a anniversary present. So I have been working on the grass area. Been air brushing layers so the grass is not as dark. Still some more work to do in this area. I've also weathered the rails and sleepers. Made some crates made from light board, and apples made with modeling clay. Also made some sacks with the clay. They where made by rolling out a thin sausage of clay, and cutting to size using a blunt knife. 20220508_125923.jpg

    Nice work Phil !

    It's amazing what the benefits of an airbrush is. You can do all sorts of things from weathering to painting your models or simply changing the tones of the grass !

    Little tip for fruit and vege... I use mustard seeds for apples, cummin seeds for corn, corriander seeds for melons, small off cuts of wire for carrots, chuncky ballast for potatoes and small foam beanies for onions! Mind you you have to paint these accordingly !

    In this pic, you can see the onions hanging, the spuds in the half barrels, melons in the large crates, apples, corn and carrots in the crates on the bench...

    Cheers, Gary.

    Very hands on and creative Phil,
    I bet you find this more stimulating than just going out and buying what you need ready made.?
