Hi to everyone on the forum. I have had some time away from railway modelling because of family issues. I have had some time to get my head sorted and although I will still be railway modelling it will be only based around wagon kit building and RTR wagons.
So I have come up with a fresh idea of having somewhere to take photos of my wagons hence a diorama board was built. The board measures 180 x 125mm and site nicely in a plastic box for safe storage. I have started to lay and glue cardboard to form the main structure of the grass/Rocky incline. Anyway enough of me explaining I have posted a picture of my diorama board. ;)

    Hi Mark

A good start, one of things I like about railway modelling is that you can stop and start to suit life and it's constraints, and it's ability to transport you somewhere else to get away from lifes issues for a wee while at least.

Keep up the good work, and look forward to seeing the progress.

    Paul

Paul thank you for your kind words. Family issues do sometimes take over our love of railway modelling and to put the iceing on the cake I had to say goodbye to my Jack Russell Max last week as his health was deteriorating. I had max for 14 years and what a fantastic little dog he was. It's strange getting used to him not being here.:(

    Sorry to hear that Mark.

We were spared that as our dog Mac, had a serious bowel issue, and we didn't think he'd pull through, fortunately he, but know how big a part of our life they become.

    Take it easy Mark

Thanks Paul. This afternoon I have been concentrating on the area that will be grassy/rocky.
PVA and kitchen roll have been used in layers over the top of the cardboard structure. Filler has been used for the Rocky area, looking forward to painting this tomorrow once fully dried.

This morning I have been adding the basecoat and black wash to the Rocky area of the diorama. Once this has dried I can dry brush some whites and creams to the rock face. This will bring some of the rock formation out.

This afternoon I have finished dry brushing the Rocky area and I'm really pleased with the results. I have added some foam board as I want the track bed to be raised as this will make the diorama more interesting once the foliage is added. ;)

Hi everyone bit of an update on my build. I did not like my homemade diorama base so I purchased a small diorama baseboard from SMS. I'm pleased I changed the baseboards as it does look loads better.
So anyway I have been busy modelling and progress is coming along nicely, much happier since changing baseboards.

This morning I have been concentrating on weathering the track. The rail sides, ties and sleepers are all painted by hand. More weathering will be achieved once ballast has been laid. Also I have been playing nice with filler to form the rock face along the back of my diorama. All in all its looking great.
