    G`day Richard,
You could always do one of those old ruined settlers / farmers cottages that you see on some country trips. Most times it`s just the chimney left and some of the foundations or you could show it partially ruined with corrugated iron missing etc plus the odd wagon wheel on the ground or a rusty disused old plough........just a thought.

OK Guys, I see the direction and I have plenty of scale timber from recent projects....but first is the completion of the roundhouse asphalting.

    Cheers

    and happy modelling

    Hi Folks

A good weekend has seen the completion of the intricate asphalting project which now completes the Round House. While the cutting and placement of the 2 mm neoprene sheet can be a little bit eye watering, the end result is great and to my mind the best way to achieve a road surface infill.

First, 2 mm cork sheet is installed between the tracks to get the right levels.

and then the fun of cutting the neoprene to shape follows.

I have used this approach on all of my Dargan layout roads and particularly level crossings. Quick set PVA is the adhesive as it has a little bit more stickiness than regular PVA but still allows for final adjustments.

Quite happy with the end result.

Now to finish off the surrounding scenery and to complete the diesel refuelling station

Before that task is the desperate need to run a few trains!

    Cheers

    and happy modelling

    Richard

    Things can happen quickly

Just got lovely wife home from a knee replacement operation at the SAN Hospital Wahroonga and was admiited to A & E there myself that afternoon. Thanks to the brilliance of Professor Brian Owler AM and his wonderful team surgery has been successful and two weeks down the track I have been returned home for 4 to 6 weeks recovery. Thanks to our wonderful family for the care and attention they have provided to us both during this extremely taxing time. Will be a very quiet Christmas period but we both look forward to a less eventful 2023.

    Cheers

and hopefully back to happy modelling.

    Richard
