Help. We have one of these decoders in a Bachmann Peppercorn A1.
It has been working fine till had to do some cleaning work on the loco and then needed to re-attach the speaker.

on testing, we have now found the loco will
Only go on one direction.. litterally. If you have the sound on it just stops at that very moment the loco should move off. Go the other way and it works fine. This is irrespective of the plug orientation and the CV used to swap forward and reverse. ie it will go one direction, but not the other (nowt to do with the pop group!)

anyone any suggestions? Already done a decoder reset but to no avail. (Testing on Decoder pro with a Sprog2)

    Andy.
You might try reversing the motor connections and see if the same happens. If sound goes off just as the loco should move, it suggests either that the motor might be overloaded and the decoder is cutting out, or a loose connection breaking the circuit under load. Have you tried replacing the decoder with a DC plug, trying it on a DC supply, and see if it refuses to go in one direction, perhaps due to something being disturbed during cleaning and causing a jam somewhere? I have to say I'm not a fan of Hornby decoders in general, ok they're 'cheap & cheerful', but no comparison to a Zimo. (other brands are available!:giggle:)

Erm, the loco is fine. It’s the decoder only going in one direction. Turning the 8 pin plug round proves this, or changing the cv that also swaps forwards and reverse.
