I’m sure on here a few moon cycles ago I saw a threat on a tool someone had made for bending/creating new handrails for loco cab sides (probably more diesels than steam due to the later using handrail knobs)

Reason for asking, my son bought (ok I bought) a second hand GWR push pull coach to work with the 14xx I still have to chip, but it’s missing 3 of the 4 hand rails from the side door. I have one thankfully as a template.
Can anyone suggest best thickness of wire for these (or I’ll get the micrometer around the original) and some way to accurately bend these up?

incidently, the coach cost £8 from Rails of Sheffield and was fitted with a decoder to control a red and white lamp(s) hung on the driving end.

I always used 0.45mm diameter wire on my OO diesels. Just held it in some pliers and folded it over with my specialist tool, a finger.

Dundee Paul created and printed hand rail bending for his Drummond 0-4-4 is that the thread you were thinking about?

I’ve previously used paper clips! And the above same method.
