To day was spent weathering and putting decals on some of the wagons ready for the show, plus I've started a BR Brake van kit. A few last bits and bobs to do and I should be ready. One item that I had been wanting for a while now was a follow on to Gormo's "how to wheel cleaner". I bought the same brush sets (4 packs of, well this is O gauge) ages ago and Gormo's resent post reminded me that I needed to make one.So with a bit of scrap timber and a 2x length of 2mm brass rod, 4 wire brushes with most of their handles cut off, a blob of solder each end of the brushes and a bit of wire with alligator clips, job done in 30 mins, works a treat on all the 0-4-0 and 0-6-0 stock. Cheers Gormo

That is a fantastic invention. I'm going to make one for myself this week. I wonder if I can come up with a good design for cleaning rolling stock wheels too. Perhaps just using a sponge soaked in turps and then rolling the wagons across the top would clean any loose muck off.
Or maybe a little buffing pad and the dremel to clean the non powered wheels of the locos as well.
Anyway....I am looking forward to seeing LSD next weekend in Perth. It's a long way to go for one day but thanks to my sponsor airline I'll be at the show for a few hours at least.
    Well done Kim. Top job!

I knocked up a simple folding "A" frame today with my son and added a couple of pin boards. A bit of Platform 1 advertising added along with a basic description of the layout, plus a few pictures of the smaller items that might go unnoticed, plus a few handouts if anyone wants further info.

I've also made up some Locomotive sheets listing all the sound functions on each locomotive, these will be attached to each end for reference for the operators.

Plus a few cut up to make it a bit easier to find the right loco quickly. As you can see I'm taking 8 locomotives to give me spares should there be any failures (fingers crossed) and also to mix it up a bit. Now that I have the Fowler (no sound yet) one session can be just the Fowler and the Class 02. I think that Two locomotives at anyone time operating the main part of the layout with possible a third shunting between shed, ash pit, coal and water on the back line will hopefully keep any viewing public happy.........

......and not a bad winter sunset tonight

    Great cards Kim
I have some like these but in a slightly different format loco photo across the top then functions below but they not as clear as yours with the functions on one side loco photo the other:scratchchin:

I'm not totally happy with my ones so can I steal your side by side format http://www.click

Re the Locos The shed is big enough to keep several on scene so I wouldn't be taking them all off the punters always want to see more, what's not on the layout will always be asked for as soon as you swap you a loco for another anyway the shed shuffle will bring in a bit of interest with all Locos in steam with whistles blowing etc.

Kim Our exhibition is on the weekend after yours so can send Steve over after his shift:avatar:

Chris I'd more than happy to come up to the Central Coast for your show. I fly back from Perth on Saturday night and I am not required for duty again until 5:30am on Monday morning.
You will of course find my hourly rate extremely competitive and although I have no experience whatsoever in driving O gauge trucks I would be able to transfer my somewhat limited experience of driving a full sized truck to that. Likewise with driving small trains, although I have no experience at all of driving a full sized locomotive I do have hundreds of hours of 'wasted time' as my wife calls it, driving the miniature versions.
I will await your instructions and as always please consider the PDS before making your decision as terms and conditions do apply.

AUTOPILOT A was in Command and I was merely the radio operator. I was also checking the status of Cooma airport should we have been required to land at the nearest airport due to some unforeseen emergency or requirement to make snowmen.

You need one of Paul's laptop modelling trays, keep your self busy modelling buildings. I might give you a kit to knock up on your return trip :avatar:photos of the build at 35,000 feet should be a first for the forum. :scratchchin:

Yes that's a great idea. I can build it on the way home then bring it back with me the following weekend when I'm back in Perth.
Will it need to be painted and weathered as well?
