G`day Folks,
The Lock Up Garage is now complete.
After much moving around and juggling of positions, it has come to rest in this spot with it`s back to the railway.



Then marked out the area and masked it to apply a gravel frontage prior to installing the garage.



With the lock up garage position resolved, BG`s garage could be located in relation to it.
The kitchen scourer is simulating a hedge, yet to be built, that will form a perimeter for the lock up garage area.
I`ve started making up patterns for the road sections.....actually I may even use the patterns once they have been distressed.
They may need to be trimmed further to reduce the width of the road.
Paving needs to be set in as well.






As mentioned in an earlier post, some light industry factory units will be sited to the left of BG`s Garage with a fence between them and the hill
I have quite a few images of low set industrial units and will get to and scratch build something soon.

Sorry Brian....couldn`t help myself there.....
There is a type of hinge known as a " Swing Clear " hinge......they may have different names around the World ?
Anyway this type of hinge would allow the doors to open completely and rest against the walls.
In the model garage situation this type of hinge may need to be modified or custom made to spread across a timber frame and brick work, however it`s possible.
I have used this type of solution for my side garage door at home here in Oz.. The door originally opened inwards, however because I intended to have a bridge with track on it across the doorway, I needed the door to open outwards. I modified two gate hinges converting them to swing clear to solve this problem. Of course all the screw fixings are still on the inside for security reasons.

It`s corrugated card that I picked up in a charity shop, originally made up as greeting cards, although pretty ordinary as a greeting card..??
The corrugated card is thin, so that was glued to a thick card base.
I cut joins in the corrugations with a knife, running across the width of the building and also added a small patch up sheet near the far right back corner, just for effect.
The card was coloured with graphic markers.
Rust and White stains are done with Crayons.

G`day Folks,
A little more work done yesterday.
The hedge in front of the garage was finished off and installed
Below is a before and after shot showing the basic kitchen scourer that it started from and then the finished hedge after flocking was added.



Roadway has been fixed in place as well....some footpaths will follow.












And bits of grass have been added where appropriate to finish off things.
More bits of junk etc. and figures and other details need to be added along the whole of Bamford, but I`m getting the main jobs done first.

G`day Modellers,
Back to the planning desk after some research on low set industrial units.
I have an area about 200 mm wide by 100 mm deep and I am wanting light industry, like flooring companies or furniture makers etc.....in other words small operations.
I have decided to base my model on the complex shown in the pic below, however with variations and adaptions and artistic license at play.




The drawings so far which will see a well braced model with a front wall a back wall and a middle wall



The main walls will be crossed braced with the side walls and the mid walls
All the mid walls will be interlocked forming box sections



Some alternatives for the extended gables......I have not settled on a colour yet......it may be a matter of cutting them out and trying them...???



I think I am at the print it and try it stage, but may sleep on it and try and work out if I`ve missed something......
