I had been looking at rolling roads on offer whilst i was at the Glasgow show earlier this year. the problem was that although it was going to cost me in excess of £100.00, they were difficult to assemble and when assembled were very flimsy. they almost fell apart when looking at them so i held back. however in continuing my search, I have came across ( and ordered ) one of these. http://www.rollingrails.co.uk a much sturdier construction and come with plenty bogie thingmy jigs as standard. It will be permanently set up on my workbench with a DCC supply provided straight from my Power Pro for use as a test track / programming track. I'll post up some piccies when it arrives ...... £95.00 plus postage. cheers toto PS ...... when opening the link ....... go to the gallery for a photo of the unit. cheers toto
It only covers o gauge unfortunately. The OO scale version covers three scales. I hope it is as well constructed as it looks. It does not give much away on the electrical connection side of things. I hope it doesn't let the rest of the design down. I'll keep you all posted. Cheers Toto
Toto wrote: Not wanting to be picky but OO, EM and P4 are all the same scale - 1:76 or 4mm:1ft, just different gauges Now if you had said OO / HO / On16.5, now that would have been three scales - I know, I'll go and sit in the corner with the naughty hat Paul
I have the DCC concepts 6 axel multi gauge https://www.dccconcepts.com/product/rolling-road-multi-gauge-6-axle/ I find it very useful, as I don't have a continuous run, so I can sit the rollers onto my programming / test track and run in the loco(s) (I can have 2 0-6-0's running at the same time). Hi Guys, Found this information a good while back on how to make your own rolling road. It looks pretty good to me if you have the gear to be able to knock one up. http://www.hmrg.co.uk/techtops/rolling.htm http://www.clickGormo
I use one of these, happy with it as it accomadates all my loco's http://www.digitrains.co.uk/manufacturers/bachrus.aspx CheersRon

Neither do I. It's one of those 'very nice to have, but do I really need one' items, which ain't cheap. Ed
This is the set I have, I just set down on a length of track to suit the wheel base of the loco, there are enough rollers for an 8 coupled engine, £33 for an O gauge set, though I think they've gone up to around £36 now. Cheer's, Pete.
That's reasonable Pete, about half the price of what I've seen elsewhere. I've just bookmarked Direct Trains Spares Ed
I have one of the German ( can't remember the name but they're on sale at most sizeable exhibitions) ones for 00 gauge.I'm away from home at present so can't post a pic, but as I recall it was around £70, and although not an essential, they are very useful if, like me, you buy a few loco's and need to run them in. My setup feeds DC and DCC via a double pole double throw switch onto the rolling road so I can run in then strip the body off, fit a suitable decoder, then put the loco back on the rolling road to program and adjust CV's as needed, so that the loco is then ready to put straight onto the layout and is ready to go. Keith.
