As Platform 1 MRC steadily grows in member numbers (nearing 300), it will take more than the few pairs of eyes we currently have, to keep the forum running smoothly, with careful monitoring and moderating. The Admin team have been looking at bolstering the team 'down under' to keep another pair of watchful eyes on the day to day running of the forum. We have found that 'lucky' candidate...

So, without further adieu, I would like to announce that Kimbo has accepted the role of Moderator, which was offered to him earlier. We here in the Admin team would like to acknowledge the benefits of having Kimbo join us in his new role.

As most of our members already know, Kimbo is located in Perth, Western Australia, which is in a different time zone to the eastern states of Australia. Kimbo's role will allow for a greater 'time stance' across Australia for accepting and welcoming new members aboard, as well as general monitoring/moderating of the forum. Kimbo's acceptance will only benefit the forum moving forward. Kimbo has shown his great skills in his modelling and no doubt his abilities will also translate across to providing the team with invaluable input regarding the forum and its future as we move forward.

I am 100% positive we have made the right choice in selecting Kimbo for this position. So please, can I ask you to 'welcome' Kimbo into his new position with me.

    Welcome aboard. :tophat:

    Cheers, Gary.
ps. Please, go easy on him ! :avatar::avatar:

    Hi Kimbo ,

    Welcome aboard.

I already replied to this post but it seems to have disappeared of the face of the earth.

    Anyway ..... Let's try again.

Thanks for coming onboard with us. Generally we are here to meet and greet and attempt to answer any member queries.

If you work out how it works ......... Please let me know. :avatar:

http://www.click Gents for the comments and encouragements. Looking forward to helping out where I can with this great friendly forum...
........ My background, in the early days, with modelling is probably like many, started off with a xmas present, when young, which was an oval of track and one siding, a Triang 0-6-0 (with smoke, no less) and a few second hand wagons. This was added to with pocket money and birthday gifts. Then several years later, it was retired to the loft for storage. ......Roll on several years later, whilst getting ready to emigrate to Australia in 2005, the boxes were discovered and opened, much to my delight my son showed an interest and so I set about making up a small oval to run the old trains on for him....he soon went back to his video games but for me it bought back a lot of memories. So I started buying magazines, looked on the internet and found that things had changed alot !! I purchased several boxes of newer oo scale rolling stock and a basic Bachmann DCC controller and I was well and truly hooked again. I planned to build a "proper" layout when settled in our new home. Lots of basic mistakes were made proving that I need more help, so I turned to the internet and forums and absorbed as much info as I could. Then plucking up courage I asked questions on these forums and found that people don't bite and will freely give you their knowledge and help. I joined a club which led me into helping out at a modelling shop for a while installing dcc decoders..... I have built a couple of working layouts in oo scale and having seen a layout called "Alton" at the Perth annual AMRA show, joined the Southern Modelling Railway Group of Western Australia to help out with their proposed new venture into DCC. Several of the clubs members have now joined the ranks of Platform1MRC and we meet up on a regular basis to play trains or help out with individuals projects, Ralph's been the main one at the moments with his O gauge garage layout. I got the O gauge bug about 4 years ago and started to build a few wagons for display, but 2 years ago with another house move and the chance to have a large room to build a layout in I decided to take the plunge and build Lord Street Depot. It was about this time that I joined Platform1MRC and again my knowledge and skills have grown thanks to the help of members. I'm now building an extension to LSD and helping out with the DCC side of things for the club members and their new layout "Medley" which will be shown at Perth this June. Always happy to help out, so don't be afraid to ask questions, we are all learning in this great hobby. Kim
