Successful test Gormo ! Ahh yes, the modern wonders of two tin cans and piece of string !! Cheers, Gary.
Congratulations on POTW your magnificence. Great shot. The bridge deck and backs ene were made for each other. Like bread and butter, cheese and pickle or even Morecombe and Hardy. Well done good Sir. Cheers Toto
Thanks guys Still in Qld at the moment so doing this by phone. Scenery to the left of the bridge is next with plenty of trees and shrubs etc. http://www.clickGormo
You'll manage that no problems. You done an excellent job of that embankment that you finished not that long ago. I think there is a touch of the alan Titchmarshes about you. A regular horty, hortie, hortey ......... Gardner looking forward to seeing them taking shoots. Cheers Toto
Thanks Toto, Ian & Marty, Well I'll be back home today , mind you it will be a protracted journey due to the terror raids in Sydney. I have had two notifications from Virgin now advising me of the new security arrangements. So it may be a long day ahead. .........better safe than sorry though. !!!! Cya lads http://www.clickGormo
Thanks Toto & Pete, Well we`re back in the door after a long day. Security was tight at Brisbane but we got there early to avoid being delayed on our flight. I had to remove an item from my checked baggage, my back pack was thoroughly searched once, then I was scanned with the bomb sniffer tool and then my back pack was searched again with the bomb sniffer tool.......hooley dooley !!!!!!.....but we were clean and clear to carry on. The plane left late, I guess because they were doing thorough scans on the checked baggage as well????.....not sure about that but it wouldn`t surprise me.????? plus most planes were leaving late which sort of confirms my suspicions. The trip consisted of two one hour train trips plus a one and a half hour flight......3 1/2 hours.....which blew out to 8 hours door to door when you add in all the stuffing around and waiting. But I tell you what folks..!!!!!....at the end of the day......everybody got home safe.......the suspected terrorists are sitting in jail cells........and that`s one up for the good guys and a kick in the butt for the bad guys.!!!!......serves `em right !!!! http://www.clickGormo
G`day Folks, Well I`m slowly getting back to all things railway but ongoing commitments are calling me away from time to time.........no big deal...the railway is a long term hobby....but I do miss my time out in the shed. Fortunately today was a quiet day so I got some stuff done. I cut out the embankment that butts up to the new bridge and that is glued down and setting overnight awaiting further attention. While the glue is drying I decided to knock up some trees. Some are completely scratch built and some are cheap Chinese imports adapted and altered to look halfway presentable. This is the first scratch built one waiting for a trunk. The build method is the one described in Gormo`s Shed Ep. 67 17 Build Your Own Trees....link below http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=1759&forum_id=67 Then it was given a trunk courtesy of the next door neighbours tree. The trunk was cut to size and then a hole was drilled in it to accept the wire. The wire was glued into the trunk. The trunk will be pushed further down into the scenery when it finds it`s final resting place. I then had a go at the Chinese cheap imports...they are the two smallest trees. They were iridescent green when the postie delivered them.......just a little too bright but they looked OK if I had my sunnies on..... Then I had a go at another scratch build. This is the biggest sucker I`ve made to date.....but trees are big.....anyway this one is. The little man gives an idea of the size of it. The trunk is made from a branch off our plumb tree up the back yard. There`s still plenty more trunks left on the old girl before it will look a little on the thin side. So there you go folks.......a couple of hours in the shed and the English countryside expands on my railway........it`s becoming a green and pleasant land in my train room. While we were in the UK and Scotland I was taking careful note of the scenery near and along the railways and I came to the conclusion that my model did not have enough trees. So I am setting about fixing that as you can see. More as it happens http://www.clickGormo
Yup, there are little, medium sized and Big trees. A lot of layouts forget this. Yours are looking fine Gormo. What glue are you using to sick your polystyrene down with? Cheers Marty
