Hi Splitpin and from a cloudy stormy Spain get comfy grab a brew then join in the threads ... splitpin eh? your not a castlated nut by any chance? Enjoy the forum. Ian vt
G'day Splitpin, Welcome aboard from Sydney. Plenty of great topics and plenty of great modellers with a wealth of knowledge. If you have any questions, just ask as someone will be along with an answer. If they can't provide you with an answer, they will point you in the right direction. Enjoy the forum and the banter that makes up P1MRC. Cheers, Gary.
and a warm from Dundee I look forward to hearing from you, and as they say just dive in ....... Once again welcome to the forum Paul
Oh! Thank you all, never recieved such an effussive welcome to a forum before. There I was thinking I'd just lurk for a while, pick up the culture, enjoy Gormo's videos and such. But thanks http://www.click Who's me? I live south of Christchurch NZ. Am old enough that it dosen't matter any more other than it's now giving me time to return to a lifelong obsession with model railroads and modelling in general. I've had a little bookcase 9'x1' layout for the last 15 years but the global authority has recently granted permission for an expansion to fill the 15'x9' room that it's in. So thats my big new project. I've been DCC since 2003 (Lenz) but had only used it to drive/run trains till now. I want to get deep into automation with this next layout using JMRI.... I was a computer programmer in a previous life so driving trains though a computer falls easily to hand.Yet another 00 GWR modeller, pre 1940 when I can resist beautiful things from other periods. Thanks again for the welcome.JohnOD
Och not another GWR nut Sounds like you need to start a layout thread ..... , then we can all help, interfere, offer advice and generally make a nuisance of ourselves , but hey ho. Looking forward to seeing the layout take shape. Paul
Decent size room. And JMRI ....there are a couple of folks using that on here so looks like you'll settle in just fine. Thanks for coming back with your introduction. It's always good to get a flavour of what's to come. Cheers for now. Toto
Hi John, great intro don't worry about Paul and his little digs about GWR, he will come round eventually Nice sized room for your next project....you could build an o gauge layout in there Kim
That's the way Kim get him thinking upgrade started conversion in 3-2--? Looking forward to following your progress John as you layout expands to Platform1 let the fun begin http://www.click
Good intro Splitpin that sounds like a good project your embarking on ... DCC .. ? ... now let me think I'm sure I've seen a thread titled 'coven' .. enjoy. Ian vt
Welcome from another Lenz user, think we're in a minority here, although I'm not yet getting around to computer control. Keith.
There are a few NCE users on here as well of which I'm one. I have heard some good things with the Lenz though and I have used a few Lenz silver decoders in some of my OO scale stuff ( now in storage ). Looking forward to the layout starting. Cheers toto
...hubble bubble toil and trouble .... dark arts indeed, but look, it's all about steam engines for me, so that's ok yeah ? And yes I will start a layout thread as I'm far from certain that my plan A or B is my final plan, help needed there. But there is gonna be a cameo of 3 old crones huddled around a cookpot somewhere. JohnOD
John from one GWR aficionado to another and also of a senior age. You'll have to forgive the non believers as they do not understand all things GREAT and WESTERN. I am a fairly recent convert to DCC but use NCE as all my friends use it but they model American. I am starting a new layout shortly for which I have already built the baseboards. I reside across the Tasman just south of Sydney and can confirm that most of the members here in "OZ" can be a weird bunch but are still likeable. Look forward to see your endeavours and should you need any information on things Great Western I am sure I can be of assistance. (ex BR WR)employee.
LOL thanks, and I will.I know south of Sydney, my wife and I have a week with friends at Jarvis Bay every year. I've started exposing my warts and all >> here CheersJohnOD
