Right, got it now. Don't forget add some Pva to the water, even with the cement in the paving sand it needs a bit more to hold it all in place. Also when you add the colouring to the sand, go easy as when it's wet it will be far stronger in colour, might be worth doing a little test piece first Look forward to seeing this area finished Kim
Yes I will do a test section first and then go to work on the yard.I remember how dark the ballast gets when you start mixing the oxide through it.I will be using a PVA water mix or I may even try the Matte medium that I have.
The Ballasting and sand work is completed in the Goods yard. I've airbrushed the sleepers and ballast with Sleeper grime and I'm very happy with the result. The added bonus of airbrushing is that it blows all the loose ballast away and reveals the weak points where the glue didn't get in. So I spent an hour tonight patching up the holes. I will touch them up with grime on the weekend. A few weeds and more static grass around the buildings and general area and I reckon I am done in the goods yard. Attached files
