History The Enfield Brewery was opened in 1879, with rail service commencing in 1880. The Brewery owned the trackage, and even built it's own engine shed, but only ever owned 1 engine,a Peckett W4 purchased in 1886. Services were operated by the Great Western from 1880 right through to 1948, when BR took over. BR continued the service until the brewery shutdown in 1970. The Layout-Scenics The layout has 2 baseboards, a 5ft x 1ft for the scenic section and a 3ft x 1ft Board for the fiddle yard. The Layout is based around an inglenook plan, with a couple of extra sidings. The points are Peco Small Radius Code 100, with flextrack being used. The power is DC, with points being thrown by Red Caboose Ground throws operating wire-in-tube method. Buildings are from a variety of sources, including Pikestuff(US) and Wills(UK). The Trains The trains on the layout are mostly from Hornby and Bachmann although Heljan and Dapol rolling stock do appear. They reflect the Western location. Attached files
Nice inglenook with a little more ! This type of layouts can provide hours of shunting. I like how the engine shed extends through the wall to allow another engine to be stored away. Nice lateral thinking. Cheers, Gary.
Looking good Loch the buildings work and the weathering is just right for the location portrayed Ian vt
