This will be an intermittent thread as some of the elements of it I have yet to sort out.

Basically I need a bridge for my Thaxted project, I have been scouring Google images for a photo of the bridge without success so I am going to try and scan the photo out of my book.

I am also waiting for a delivery of ink for my printer. As soon as all the bits come together I will post a picture and make a start on the bridge.

    Cheer's, Pete.

Well the photo scanned all right.
Thanks for your encouragement Toto. Fingers crossed I will earn it :avatar:.

The only bridge on the line. Not particularly exciting but it doe's have its own charm.

My ink arrived this morning so I cracked on and down loaded the Scalescenes TX52 Garden wall brick paper, its the closest to the brick on the engine shed.
After printing one sheet off, I copied it at 175% and got it to O scale, I printed 5 copies, hopefully I won't need them all but from experience if I run short the next copy will be a different shade!

I have cut the track base 400 x 83mm and glued the bridge walls from foam board, the bridge has a slight scew to it, hardly noticeable but I can see it.

Once the glue's dried I will carry on and strengthen the trackbed.

    Cheer's, Pete.

Done a bit more on my bridge.

I could not put my finger on it at first, but something didn't look right. Anyway, because I haven't got a drawing or other photos of the bridge, most of it is guesstimation... Then while out walking Bear this morning we passed under a similar bridge on the old colliery line near us, it dawned on me that I had the dimensions wrong. So on getting back into the shed I had another look at the photo, and counted the bricks, well the ones I could see, and the ones on the model, I had only modelled two thirds the height.
Rather than start anew, I have started extending down, hopefully it will look ok after, we shall see!

Just got to wait for the glue to dry, take the clamps off and see what it looks like.

    Cheer's for now, Pete.

I'm sure it will be fine. I have first hand experience of your building and can vouch for the quality of the build. It's nice to see a bit of diversity between the builds that are on the go. Two completely different designs. All good stuff.

    Carry on squire. :tophat:

Sorry I haven't posted anything on this build lately. Truth be told I have got a bit frustrated with it.
There has been something not right with it from the start. It finally dawned on me-and it was so obvious I don't know why I missed it.

Look at the tops of the pillars at the top of the bridge.

    Now look at my model.

    Spot the difference?
They should be equally wide from the base to the top, no cut outs

As they would be a bu&&£r to change, plus I haven't made them tall enough, I have started over.
I have cut and glued up the new bridges parts, once dried, I will post up some new pic's.

    Hey ho :faint:

    Cheer's, Pete.

P.S, A quick welcome to all the new members who have joined these hallowed ranks, sorry for not acknowledging you all sooner, please let us know what you guys are up to!

    Pete.

Look on the bright side Pete, at least you spotted it now and not several build hours later....call that one a practice.

Thanks Kim, it just go's to show that prototype photos are good but you do need to keep checking them :faint:.

Anyway, I have restarted with a new bridge, made to the same manner as the last one in foamboard, card and MDF, though I have got a little further than last time.

Thats it as it stands at the moment, I've the otherside to do, make the wing walls, the handrails and lay the track. All good stuff.

    Ok, a bit more done.
The pillars have been clad and the extra brick layers fitted.

    And pillars capped.

Can't do any more until the glue has dried on the capping, I've got a day tomorrow to play as Karen is going to her mums, hopefully I will get a lot more done. :giggle:

    Cheer's, Pete.

Thanks Ron/sparky, I cut them from a piece of old plastic window cill. Its like a very dense foam with a rigid plastic coating on one side.
It was a pain to cut, but once I had got a narrow strip, I could use my razor saw to cut it into the lengths I needed, a bit of filing and sanding it came out spot on.

Managed to get a bit more done, not as much as I hoped but I think I'm kicking down hill now. :avatar:

I've made two of the wing walls, not as easy as they look with about six different angled cuts to them. I think they look ok.

I have also made and fixed the handrails and side panels.

Depending on what SWMBO needs me to do, I should get the otherside wings done, hopefully some paint on the metalwork and a base cut to sit it on today. I'm not going to hold my breath though :giggle:.

    Cheer's, Pete.
