Hi all, I'm new on here, but have been on a couple of other forums prior. I've started this thread to show some of the stock that has come across my workbench and which continues to come across it. A while ago I was asked to give some Heljan Cargowaggens a bit of a weathering, in particular the Blue Circle Cement one needed a good dollop of cement dust and grime around it. I'll leave it to the pictures to explain. David
Thank you, here another one............... A Bachmann Brassworks 08, MMP detailing added and finished in BR blue and weathered. I have since re-fitted this loco with a Zimo MX645R and it has lighting front and rear, cab lights and the dashboard also lights up. Weathered again as a well used example. David
Stunning David I saw your intro earlier but if you don't mind I'll take this opportunity to welcome you to platform1mrc from a warm sunny Spain, I've a feeling I shall be following you're threads regularly great to have you on board. Ian vt
Thank you for the kind words and warm welcome, having looked around the forum just a little, I can see there are some excellent modelling skills on show and a very informative membership willing to help others along the way. I hope I can in some way contribute myself, as well as ask questions where the answer eludes me. Further on, here we have a Heljan GUV in Royal Mail red livery with just the yellow double striping and yellow indecisive arrows. I've again altered this from the norm by repainting one door as a replacement from a BR blue example. The hinge area has been shown to have undertaken some repair as well with grey primered repair patching. Hope you don't mind the flurry of pictures? David
Wow that GUV's a model - very impressive , time to send my airbrush and weathering powders back, they are evidently defective compared to yours Paul
Hi David, I'm pretty sure I've seen your Cargowagon weathering report on another forum some time back, I was very impressed with you skill and level of detail.Unfortunately for some reason I cannot see your picture uploads as it is saying Error I do not have permission to view, so maybe there are a few little niggles still to be fixed. Anyway from another scratch build forum member welcome and I look forward to following your work and learning from you. cheers for now York Paul
Thanks Rob Yes I posted the Cargowaggen on RMWeb when I first did it. Thank you for your kind comments. I've recently changed a Heljan 05 from the CEGB yellow livery to a 'BLUE CIRCLE CEMENT' livery. I had some custom transfers made up by Steve at Railtec Transfers, I added extra air tanks under the side valence and extra air pipes on the front and rear buffer beams with pipe runs going through the beam at the rear. I've given it a reasonably heavy weathering with powders, washes and dry brushed effects in places, then an all over spray with Testors Dullcote to seal it up. once dry, I gave some of the oily bits some glossy washes and some fuel stains from the tank filler. David
Yes I saw the Blue Circle 05 too ! Very nice indeed. Has your work been on the Facebook Group Model Railway Realism or it may be O Gauge Realism... I'm sure I've FB liked it on one of those sites. Also I really appreciate you sharing your skill techniques too, thank you for the over weathering tips, I wondered how to make the wet oil / water look plausible.http://www.click cheers York Paul
Phew, it's not just me - having the same problem with this thread, but fine viewing other images since the recent change. Peter
Must be just me...I get the message that I do not have permission to view these sites? Anyone know why? Richard
Richard, with Is Line Clear & me that makes at least three. When I try clicking on any of the list of blue links (which is all that I can see), I get ... Peter
Thanks Peter It is much more comforting in the knowledge that I am not doing something stupid. Cheers Richard
Hi Guys, Sorry but I think when I uploaded my media I set them as private somehow. I will ask the mods if they can help to make all my pictures public. David
I have just found out how to change the permissions, I think that I've now made all the media available for everybody to see. If someone could let me know if it has changed now please? David
Also I can now see them so do not be a bad boy again! I am (with the immense help of PFM1 friends) now quite happy with my weathering abilities for goods wagons but not so for all of my passenger stock which all looks brand new. This is my new challenge. You now need to send me in the right derection as those weathered cars of yours are the ants pants! Cheers Richard
