Trees look nice Roger, should finish Johns back scene off nicely. There should be a few pictures ready to post up on Friday once the layout is assembled ready for the show this weekend. Kim
Here are some pictures from today. Terry has been busy with a section from the old club layout “Alton” carrying out extensive scenic working and building a road bridge then all detailed in his usual way with lots of little cameo’s Great day, layout was well received and there were plenty of close up photos been taken by the public which is always a good sign. Great effort by the team to get Johns first attempt at building and showing his home layout ready for the big day. Kim
Fantastic work. Beautiful lush scenery and a huge undertaking looking at the size of the layout. Spot on chaps. ( thanks for flying the P1 colours ) cheers toto
Day 2. Out with a few of my locomotive stock that have been fitted with sound and smoke units. Plus Ali’s 9F and Malcolm’s King class. Malcolm looking “chuffed’ having managed to get the “southern’s’ to remove their stock and replace it with some proper GWR rolling stock. Well done Mal SVR Preserved 4MT which ended up sold on the day after a member of the public loved it so much. Ali’s 9F trundles light engine around to collect some tank wagons Terry was also busy, changing the diarama display. Note the hearse’s have coffins in them. And finally, keeping tradition going, the winner and wearer of the knitted hat (thanks again to Peter’s wife aka zdownunder) due to the three strike running rule was ......Ali, who changed a macro that sent a passenger train up a tank wagon siding, creating a short and a near Miss with a second train on the other running line. Nice one Ali, three in one go And again here modelling a nice little number from “dress to impress” I will not be there for the third day, so best of luck to John, have a great day and keep them wheels on the track. Kim
Just received a text message to say that John has won the Bill Gardner award for best group layout. Well done John and the operating crew, great effort.
.... Just getting other exhibition pics in order, will post them in the Exhibition thread over the next couple of days Peter
Congratulations John. On winning the award for best group layout. It really is a beautiful layout and when you look back to September and the first post in this thread you really have done an amazing job. I hope that I get a chance to come and visit you in Perth and see it close up. Well Done!!!
Hi Ralph, Hope you are getting better. Heard that were a bit under the weather last week. regards, Roger Dodger.
Well this is the closest picture captured of John with his award.....the plonker didn’t pick it up to have a photo done holding it. Kim
AMRA meeting tomorrow at 2pm where John will get his own Bill Gardner shield presented to him. Have a great day mate Kim
28 months !! Since an update finally got “up north” to see John and his layout today. A lot has happened, the original board is still as was but there’s a new station board in front plus the one end board has had scenic work added, plus there’s a new fiddle yard at the back for the “small” amount of stock John has amassed. Finally a new board on a different level where John will build a 4 lane engine shed and add a turntable....hopefully John will be joining the forum and keeping us all updated on his railway empire...in the mean time a little video.
