Finally decided to build something simple after a break of nearly two years from modelling, mainly due to day to day life getting in the way. So something simple to ease my way back in, a water crane for a GWR layout that I have been contemplating for far too long. Looking around for what is available I came a cross a kit from Skytrex (2103) Ltd, for a ground mounted water crane with various options of fittings, the parts are mostly white metal with a resin/plastic base.

Initial thoughts are how clean and crisp the castings are, although the smaller parts are in a couple of cases rather well attached to their sprues. The only downside so far is the rather scant set of instructions instructions, a warning about melting the castings if soldering, and general advice on cleaning up parts prior to assembly and painting, other than that just a photo. So I would suggest that if you are not familiar with what you are trying to model this may not be the kit for you.

So far I have opened the bag, checked everything seems present (including chain and wire) and started cleaning up the parts for a dry fit. I will let you know how it goes.

I would have attached an image if the unpacked bits but I can't seem to be able to create media on the site or attach an uploaded file. Sorry

Sorted the image issue, seems I need to use either one of the MS offerings or Firefox for it to work, but to be honest neither of these are not my browsers of choice. Never mind.... Plus the image has been badly cropped by the BBS so bits are missing, even though I did resize before uploading, not having a lot of success with pictures today!

These are the parts as unpacked.

In the preview it is badly cropped, on post it is OK, I give up.
