That's great - if it's possible - when it's in, can I have a pic of it from the outside to use on the website?

Absolutely indeed, I'll be sending you hi-res Jpegs direct via email for your use. I'll have a look at putting it together now... should give me some therapeutic respite from current activities. On another note Steve I've sent you email asking to look at two roof arc positions on the skeleton frame, if this is not too late for the etches going to print.

Masters received from his nibs tonight on a whistle stop tour on the way home. Looking good. I need to remove them from their scaffolds, identify, name, number and photograph the suggested mould layouts for the caster, give him a call once I've emailed him a copy of said photographs and see if the mould layouts are to his approval/ acceptance. If so ...... get them down to him for the new moulds and test castings.

    Never a dull moment.

Steve Beattie has very generously donated a spare Sulzer power unit kit from his range to go in the display loco destined for Llangollen Railway, so thank you for that Steve and here is the result of this weekends work. I decided the weathered and work worn engine block look was best, so with the aid of a little scratch detailing this turbo charged and intercooler fitted 6LDA28 power unit will look great inside D5310's engine room... not that there will be a great lot to see but never say we here pass on detail or something free. :avatar:Cheers again for your kind gift Steve. :tophat::thumbs:

Not sure if the bottom part should be black or dark grey?

    Will check.

Ok, so it’s grey! (Probably gets black with engine dirt)
Thanks to Mark Smales for this photo.

You mean the sump? In Corporate Rail Blue these power units were painted Vellum or Rail Grey, in the Green era from new many were painted Sky... well that's what the BR painting spec decreed.

Following on from Yorkie's great progress with both this build and the class 26, we decided to consolidate some of the parts into premade sub-assemblies, the first ones to get this were the bogie suspension units.

This assembly is made from seven parts, some quite thin and easily broken when removing them from the build plate.

The end result is this master for the coil spring version

and the Class 26 leaf spring version

With the Class 26's, you need to find a photograph of the loco at the time you wish to model it to ensure that you fit the correct springing, as these seem to have been swapped arround.

Same issue with the buffers, originally the pilot build machines had oval self contained spring buffers and the later builds had round headed sc spring buffers. Small head Oleo hydraulic buffers were a later mod and later still some locos received large head Oleo buffers as per Class 20 and 47 types, so the need to know which loco one wants to build and in which era of time is a most important investigation. That's probably why kit building is always so fascinating.

Been working on the gearbox to allow for delrin drives - motor is mounted off center to allow the delrin gear to be installed.

Uses the axel bushes through the bogie inner frames for alignment, this has been done for a Canon DN22 motor with Ultrascale 20:1 0.4 MOD worm gearset, either Type 1 (no boss on the gear ) or Type 2 (boss and grub screw on the gear )

Although designed for 0.3mm thich brass, there is a temptation to try the same with 3d printed resin but increase the wall thick ness to 1mm.

Might be worth thinking about using Stainless Steel which I can get done. For resin you'll need at least 3mm but ABS or NYlon 3d printed you could get away with 1.5-2mm.
