A good subject for modellers is a grounded freight wagon. Some makers have capitalised on this and already market wagons without wheels and undercarriages for this purpose. Whenever I travel an find one I usually like to photograph it to see how it is blended into the environment in which it now resides. Last week I was up in Narrabri for work, laser scanning roads, when I saw this off to the side at the far end of a horse paddock. It is something like an old NSWGR LLV bogie louvre van, 40 foot long. The doors appear to have been replaced by sheets (or tarps). The roof has added whirlybirds for extra ventilation, and the whole thing has been repainted the same green as the other buildings and fences on this property, rather than just a dilapidated version of its original colour it would have worn in service. just about to install an old wagon on my Dargan layout. I am going to use one of my old four wheeler louvre vans which was from a Casula kit. Never really ran all that well as I mucked up the needle roller bearings so at last it has a useful purpose. Cheers Richard
