    Hello all,
As a bit of a prelude to my pre grouping modelling here is my scratchbuild of a 7 ton PO coal wagon from the late 19th century.

    Very nice.

What's with the mix of buffers and dumb buffers ?

They were built like that for pit to port workings in south wales. Sprung buffers on the door ends for tipping and with the abundance of wagon turntables they could get away with saving a few quid on them only being on the door ends. Amazingly some of them lasted up to the early 1900s with the bigger companies long after the RCH standards had been set down

Thanks Bazz. Very interesting. I like these more obscure wagon types. There is always a story behind them.

    Cheers
