Today was a sad one for me and the wifey as we booked a first class round trip from Cardiff to Swansea on the first of the two round trips along the South Wales Main Line today. The two power cars were 43009 (Swansea end) and 43185 (London end). 1B03 and 1L42 were the TOPS codes. The emotions were welling up for both of us by the time we reached Bridgend on the return. Only twice have I been so emotionally affected by the withdrawal of a train. The first was as a 7 year old witnessing the line of dead class 141s at Doncaster works. The second was today. Here's to the old girls who lasted longer than their replacements will do.
