    So I'm a little confused at the moment, I am in the market for something I can use behind/in-front of a loco to run around and clean track, currently i'm doing this manually.

    I have been using isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the tracks and remove grim, Should I then be treating the track with something like oil or a lubricant or some such to help keep the track health?

    Not as far as I'm aware. You'll just hunk it up again and also end up with deposits on your rolling stock as well.

    The isopropyl will do just fine.

    I am assuming OO here.

    I use an American "Centerline" cleaner which uses a knurled brass roller wrapped in cloth. This is moistened with IPA or one of the branded track cleaning solutions. Lanarkshire models do a kit for a similar thing which fits in an LMS guard van.
