Just had confirmation of the completion of my first production silicone mould for use in casting of white metal bogie furniture for my Class 26 and 27 currently under development for Highlander Models.

It's in the post via NMRS along with a set of successful castings straight off the test production run.

Pictures of the moulds and castings when they land.

    Cheers

Apparently it only took 4 spins to get a perfect cast. That's quite good considering they were cold and a new mould. A good sign.

I'm raring to get going with it and get the whole system tested out. I have to reconfirm the rest of the white metal cast requirements for the 26 and 27 back to Graham again so I'll need to go through the remaining parts to see what will be needed again.

I left a list and the masters with him on my last visit but I think he needs some clarity and confirmation prior to commencing the last of the 26 and 27 moulds. No problem.

Due to some of the parts being a bit bigger, they may need to go on 9 inch moulds as opposed to the current 6 inch mould used for the bogie furniture mould.

Hopefully we will see the remaining moulds being made and delivered over the next couple of weeks. That should bring the 26 and 27 more or less to completion and provide a full bogie accessory kit for the same as well.

Great news. Class 24 and 25 is next.

    Cheers
