Just as it says ....... we are looking for a name for York Paul's latest diorama build.

What is required is simply to enter your suggestion for a name for the diorama ...... Simples. You only get one shot at it and your first submission is the one that is taken as your official entry.

Please only post against this thread to submit your choice of name. Do not put up general posts on this thread please.

The layout will feature in future exhibitions as part of the Highlander Models trade stand exhibit so should be well travelled. The first of the exhibitions will be Kettering, Doncaster and Telford 2020.

The prize, very kindly offered up by the master builder himself is a set of two culvert casts which can either be used singularly ( giving you two models ) or as one model one either side of your culvert.

This will include the culvert fronts and the wing walls all cast, and constructed into two one piece units. They will also be painted and weathered by York Paul as well. So ..... a truly fantastic and individual / original prize to win.the winner an choose between having it cast in O or OO gauge.

So ...... let's know your thoughts. Again, please remember one attempt per member and your first submission is the one that's taken. Do not use this post for any comments other than your submission entry.

The competition winner will be announced by the end of August. Moderators can also enter this competition.

    Cheers

    Toto

Some great suggestions coming in right now so thanks to all those entering so far.

Now having chatted with Toto last night I would like to open this to the OO Gauge chaps a little more so I shall create a 4mm version of this stone culvert thus there will be two prizes a new similar one at 4mm scale for an OO Gauge modeller and the existing 7mm one for a winner modelling in O Gauge. I think this is fair and I'm happy to accommodate as I see some superb 4mm layouts here and whilst the current size culvert would potentially fit into an OO Gauge layout it may be a tad overscale. So same rules again as requested by Toto only use this post as your submission however if chaps could edit their already posted entries stating which scale they prefer that will help us to choose two winners, one in 4mm and one in 7mm. Cheers again chaps and good luck to all involved.

Just a quick update on the mini competition called "Name the Bridge Layout" as a reminder and to keep the thread going, here is a picture of the culvert castings in 7mm gauge which have been assembled together and sprayed in cream primer paint... just so the O Gauge folks know what the prize will look like. I'll weather the stone masonary and add in foliage to complete the work. The 4mm version will probably be the same size but with the stonework calved into the plaster of paris to match the scale, again there are two prizes and two different winners. Good luck folks

Just a quick update on the name the diorama scene folks, here is the completed O Gauge culvert casts now fully painted and dressed all ready to be won. I have to admit I haven't got the OO Gauge version complete yet so there is still time for this competition particularly as we have had some new members recently who may also be interested in submitting a name for Toto's Highlander Models new scenic display. So far we have 8 entries from folks who model in 4mm, so the 4mm version is the same size as the 7mm one except that the stones are cut much smaller for that scale... it just saves me making a second set of moulds but offers a structure which resembles an animal underpass. Good luck all and Toto will pick winners soon once I've finished the 4mm culvert.

Thanks Toto, I may just tone some of the nature down a touch using a dark wash and scrape some scatter away from the stonework using a scalpel blade... just my opinion tho.
