    A good budget start in O gauge is the old Atlas 0-6-0 Diesel. Just need to fit British buffers and couplings and it is basically ready to go. Cab is a bit on the small side, and is mostly filled with chassis block. They turn up on eBay quite regularly and usually for a reasonable price.
