Sorry for the delay in replying but life gets in the way. It will be out and about, Solihull November, then 3 shows already booked in 2020. I have done a bit more and will have it finished, if you ever finish a layout, well before the end of September.

This reminds me of the former 18 inch mill at British Steel Shelton Yard... it was an archaic place with half open corrugated iron sheds that had brick lean to structures added on in most ad hoc ways, the site was originally an old open hearth smelting plant but in its last years used as a stocking ground for girders bound for the then new Morecambe Gas Fields. There was a fully equipped wagon works with forge next door and an old steam shed housing a myriad of scrap Hunslet and North British shunters along with a Dubbs steam crane tank which happily is now at Foxfield Light Railway. There was also the remains of a four wheeled steam loco frame complete with cylinder block buried under a mass of rubbish right up at the top of the yard where the single line mineral branch ran under Century Street bridge and onto Hanley Deep Pit. It's all now long gone so I guess I caught the very last glimpse of what was once a vast internal railway system which linked the Knotty at so many different points in the Potteries before it was all wiped away in 1981. There is a lovely Water World nearby now and a Peugeot dealership on the site instead with super silvery curved aluminium cladding... real state of the art stuff, oh and they did widen the road junction at the bottom of the hill onto the A500 feeder road to ease traffic congestion.
