Hello all I have a question for you all how do you dust your layouts ? I have just spent time cleaning Little Weldon with a paint brush and a mini AA powered Henry hoover intended for computer keyboards. I am not particularly pleased with the results. Any suggestions.
To be honest, I just wave the hoover over mine. Anything left I tell myself it is just natural weathering. Pete.
Try using an airbrush with no paint in it. Main fault is that it just places the dust somewhere else.
Soft paint brush and also vacuum cleaner( Hoover).......but unfortunately it`s not done very often. It actually seems to survive quite well considering it`s in a garage..........or maybe my eyes don`t see the dust.???? Gormo
I use a small hand held vacuum and if the dust is really heavy, then I opt for the vacuum cleaner with the small soft brush attachment. Cheers, Gary.
Having small layouts makes things a little easier, all my layouts have dust covers which helps a lot. What I have found is that static grass is quite tough, it stands up quite well to any errant hits by a vac head, and also doesn't get sucked up either. In the past I have modified vac heads for other purposes with different bristles, for example I made a LP cleaning head from the side of a crevice tool and some stock on bristle type door seal. I'm sure something different could be made for scenery that way. For some items on the grass, masking tape also works well to remove unwanted things. Cheers Tony
