Ok, so it’s a little bit of a tenuous link from Signage- but I suppose a Signal is a sign?

anyway, I’m looking for suggestions for some signals to go out doors in OO.

my preference would be colour lights, as I’m not sure that a Dapol illuminated Semaphore would work stood out in all weathers outside.. (we want working even if they are not quite interlocked)

    any suggestions Ladies and Gents?

    G`day Andy,
I would suggest colour light signals made from brass..........you may need to make them yourself.
Flat brass sheet and brass tube should get you out of trouble and the brass can also act as your common wire.
They should survive......however they are still small and fragile and possibly may need to be plug in / removable so that they can be brought indoors in order to survive severe weather.??......:scratchchin:

I agree with Gormo, make your own but have them de-mountable so they just plug in, make some caps to fit over the sockets to keep out bugs/bad weather etc.

    Cheer's, Pete.

To be honest, I was trying to avoid the extra plugs etc as more joins to go faulty. If we go down a plug in fitting, may as just use any off the shelf item.

Then if you take them off, where do you store them?

It all food for thought when we make the decision.

I would try putting a cover over the whole thing and not removing the signal. I have been doing similar with a cylindrical worm feeder in the garden. The idea is you put food scraps in this thing, and the worms come directly from the garden bed to the food scraps and do their thing. Problem is, possums have taken to the contents, moving 2 bricks in the process. So I a making a shield over the top of the whole thing, easy for a human, hard for a critter.
    Cheers
    Tony
