Can anyone help please, still a newbie to modelling and I have a question about the PowerCab.
Today for the first time I had two locos running at the same time, however every time I swapped from one loco to the other the display doesn't show the speed level of the selected loco it shows zeros and when I increase the speed it seems to start from zero again, not the speed at which it was running before I selected the second loco. I can't see much in the manual about this either. Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi Malc

When you selected the second loco, did you first press the recall button

    upload_2019-9-27_22-44-11.png

If you just press the select loco button, it changes the currently controlled loco to the new number selected.

By pressing the recall button moves you to the next loco slot, leaving the current loco to carry on in its way with the same direction and speed.

By default the PowerCab has 2 recall slots, but can be increased to 6 (version 1.65 and above), this allows you to enter upto 6 loco numbers in the recall list, and to just cycle through the list until you reach the loco you want, change any settings on the loco, then move on to the next one.

    Hope this helps

    Paul

Thanks Paul, No I didn't, guess I should have read the manual more thorough. How does 'Recall' work. Do I select my first loco, get it running, then press recall, select second loco and get that running. If I then press recall does it show the first loco and if I press enter will I then control that loco?

    Hi Malc
You can set up your Power Cab with several recalls

    To do this press
    Select loco
    ####
    Enter

then to load the next loco number press the recall button

    Recall
    Select loco
    ####
    Enter

You can now tab between the two locos On the fly you don’t have to press enter the profile is now active when it is displayed on screen

The “Pro cabR” I have for my throttles is set at 5 the max number of locos to tab between, you can find how to set this number in the manual.

This allows you to in basic terms, Load your locos to a slot and Tab between each, they will be at the last settings you left them at when you Tabed away,
Power cab as a stand-alone hand piece unit remembers these,
If using The Pro Cab version, the command station module stores all the details.

The recall button is basically a Tab through button between the stored locos addresses
I use my throttle at the local train club and when I get to the club and switch on it will now show the number’s of the last locos I had used at the club not the ones on my Layouts. Win win.

One of the good things about the NCE systems, are they are fairly straight forward and generally easy to follow, but there is always that first hurdle to overcome.

There are plenty of us on here that use NCE (other systems are available and used by other members of the forum, but that's only because they haven't bought an NCE system :whatever: ).

So any questions just ask - we may even know the answer :giggle:

So where does it show what functions are switched on?
    Or is that the line “L - - 3 - 5 -“?

Hi Andy, Yes the bottom line on the display is what functions are switched on but it only displays 1 - 6, L = directional lights

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd add my query to this one.

My question and I hope I don't appear to be too much of a dumbo! :( is:

The NCE Powercab does not have an 'on/off' switch so how do other users turn the power off on their layouts?

Rather than keep removing the power jack plug form the pcb board every time (as the wall socket switch means I have to crawl under the layout) - I was thinking of adding a small extension cable with a switchable extension socket that I would fix to one of the support legs near the pcb board.

Hi MalcT, to be honest I simply turn mine off at the extension, it works when I want it to so I don't think switching off the power supply will cause a problem (my extension has switches by the sockets).

As with Pete, I have my layout connected via an extension cable and just unplug that. For short outages I just unplug the handset.

Malc, my layout is split into 5 sub-sections each protected by a car globe & toggle switch. The globe lights up with a short circuit so by using the toggle, I can isolate that section.

Now with a small layout and one controller, why not take the track output from the PCP panel via toggle switch to the tracks so you can isolate track power when required and only switch off the actual power supply when finished running for the day.
