A while ago I picked up a copy of Historic Carriage Drawings Vol 2 LMS and constituents by David Jenkinson, in new condition and below the rrp on the cover.

Impressed by the standard I tried to pick up a copy of Historic Carriage Drawings vol 1 LNER and constituents, the two I saw listed wanted £135, I believe the first thought was - maybe not, or words to that effect.

    However, I have come accross

It is a good book (I have one of the original print editions in my library) but it's not to be confused with Vol 1 of Historic Carriage drawings.

If you want a copy of HCD vol 1 (and vol 3 NCPS Stock for that matter) let me know your price ceiling and I will look out for a copy for you. I see them 2nd hand at shows quite often in really good condition.

I got mine years ago, plus a couple of LMS coach drawing books. Very useful reference when building kits etc.

    Pete.

wasn’t David Jenkinson the gent who was associated for many years with Bob Essery, brother of Old Sausage? (See we’re back to NSR again!) who apparently between them helped airfix design the cab to the 4F model (based on 4422??)

Wasn't Old Sausage always saying how they didn't do it that way when he was a fireman at Bescot ? I remember him telling me about the time he slipped to a stand on wet rails on the Water Orton curve with a 9F pulling 6000 empty coal wagons, his driver wasn't amused as the Bobby had not given him a clear road and the back of the train was still in Wolverhampton High Level platform. :avatar:

I heard many a tale from El’tel. Fastest run with a 9f. between Toton and some other place I’d never heard of at the time. The list goes on. No wonder he wrote some books!

I never had the fortune to meet David, but have known both the Essery brothers for a few years.

Here you are Mr S a blast from the past here is Old Sausage in conversation with general purpose relief signalman Fat B****** Proccy and the late Roger Dodger Spencer. I'm not joking Fats could put some alcohol away and then ride home on his Kawasaki bike. One night he fell off it somewhere near Caverswall when coming off a late shift at Leigh Crossing... Matt Black and myself passed him in a big heap at the side of the road, I think we'd been down at Sudbury. Oh how mean we all were in those mad hectic days.

You didn't need alcohol to make a complete ar** of some of the corners around Caverswall - so I'm told :whatever:

I think he skidded on the main road Dundee, don't think Proccy had been on the booze at work, he also covered rest days at Stallington Crossing along with Graham Serill

and the photo is Froghall, and insuspect it’s around 1998 when we ran the first special top and tail to there. Can’t remember what was on the other end.

I recall Proccy being immobile for a while. So must have been 1996 or 1997? Unless that was a second time :avatar::avatar:
