My friend has built a single engine shed for his layout using a Metcalfe model but has decided that a two road shed would be better. We have tried to buy the Metcalfe one here in Australia but no one seems to have one, not to worry we will design and build one. This morning I sat at the computer and drew up the basics for the shed using Corel draw I then printed out the sheets and glued them up on some grey boxboard (1mm) since then I have started to cut out and glue together the parts. It is coming together quite well and shouldn't take too long to complete, I have used the arch windows that I screen printed to save reinventing the wheel. The model is made up in layers with the final thickness being 3mm so it will be quite a strong structure. Here is a couple of photos of the progress this morning.

Cutting out the roof trusses is a bit of a job but will help to give some interior detail to the model. The trusses are cut in one piece and then a fine cut down between the two which allows it to be folded and glued together. My goodness only four more to cut out, I can't wait.

More progress on the engine shed today, all of the roof trusses are complete...thank goodness. I have been working on the sides cutting out the parts which is made up of 4 parts, the exterior wall, the exterior wall buttress (i think that is what its called) and the interior wall and buttress. Fitting the screen printed windows completes each side. Hopefully tomorrow I will be putting the shell together.

I'm liking this build Robyn. Excellent attention to detail, and the brickwork print is, to my eye, much better than the Metcalffe product.

Keep up the great work :tophat:.

    Cheers, Pete.
