I am after some help, with a photos, information or dwgs wrt a LNER 6 wheeled coal wagon. There where 6 of these wagons built in WWII by the LNER, there purpose was to stop enemy tanks or trains going though tunnels in the event of a invasion. They where filled with concrete (that's why they had 6 wheels. They where placed at the entry points to the tunnels, on a make shift siding. How they positioned them in the tunnels I don't know or how they decided which tunnels they were stationed at. They didn't simply have a a extra set of wheels attached to the wagon under frame, it was part of the wagon sub frame (I think). I have only ever seen one picture of one many years ago in Railway Modeller magazine in the late 60's or 70's. I kept the issue for many years and like so many in this hobby when you need it you cant find it. Hi Richard, I would be really interested too as it's an LNER wagon that I haven't heard of previously and I do like unusual wagons, especially from the LNER.
Sounds likely they were either mounted on old 6 wheel guards van underframes or 6 wheel carriage underframes. The LNER did experiment with a brake van made out of concrete so it wouldnt surprise me if it was literally just a block of concrete on on of the above.
Thanks for the replies I've been searching though my stuff, with no luck, I did find a photo and a article on some factories with camouflage schemes painted on them dated RM 1972 , from what I can remember the article was somewhere around that time. If I can get a dwg, I am was hoping to have them 3D printed.
