A new addition to my brass fleet from Sancheng / Tower models is a 4MT 2-6-4T locomotive.
This model arrived from Hattons about 6 weeks ago and had a running in session on dc before I fitted a small TCS decoder to give her a run on Ralph’s outdoor layout. ‘It was one of a few we tested a few weeks back.

As you can see in the video clip, the model was very tarnished, but after a good clean up and a degrease, the body was ready for some Bunnings etching primer.

48 hours later, black satin paint from a rattle can was applied.

Once this was dry I painted the buffer beams white ready for a coat of red paint, plus the cab detailing was picked out

Next job, install a Zimo mx 645 (no need for a large decoder in this model) with twin speakers, front light, firebox flicker and a cab light. Why a cab light, well when the removable cab roof goes on you can not see any detailing inside. (Rule 1 applies here)

Decals and running number added, but the lining kit is still on its way from Fox Transfers UK (yes Linda at Fox is still processing orders)

Next job will be to tone down the wheel rims and the rods. Add the lining then weather the locomotive.

Wonderful job Kimbo and you did 80136 as well... I worked on that loco when it was first resurrected back to life, my old friend Philip Oldfield from Wolstanton purchased it way back when. :avatar: So stand by for the special spanners, OMO soap box jokes and reference to delightful but stone deaf ex Stoke shed fitter Ted Ball (RIP) ... ten past three duck :avatar::avatar::avatar:

Track testing the 4MT and the 4F turned into a bit of fun, controlling 2 locos on the same line, so for your entertainment I give you a o gauge tail chaser video clip.

It looked as if the 4F was catching the 4MT, nice video once again !

My small circle of track looks like it belongs in a park compared to that of LSD ! :avatar::avatar:

    Cheers, Gary.

Cheers Gary. Yes it can be fun to operate two on the same line. I’ve manage 2 on each line on my own which was fun. I have the same issues as well after I’ve run trains on Ralph garden layout :avatar:

Aren't you glad that it has no reflection on your manhood. Size doesn't matter, it's about the enjoyment you get from it !! :avatar::avatar:

    Cheers, Gary.

lining decals arrived last week, so this weekend the slow and steady process of lining the loco. First time I’ve done lining on an o gauge model.

1st boiler band was “fun” to do, I’ve used decal fix to soften the decals where it goes over the rivets. 2 bands to go, then turn the model around and start the other side........

I hope when I get to try lining it will be half as good as your first attempt.

Looking forward for the next installment

Cheers Paul, I’m sure you’ll do a great job....remember there’s always a bit of weathering that can hide the errors.

That’s me done for today.....there’s a couple of little jobs to do on it before it gets a light blow over with some clear Matt to seal them all in....possibly the cleanest locomotive on LSD......but it will get a little bit of dirt added
