Thanks very much Mike. I’m pleased how the school came together.

The work in building the church school and getting it on the layout all lit is now complete. I also show the scenic work that I completed around including the mystery building that I mentioned in the last video. I also show how valuable comments are to me. One comment following my last video helped me to avoid a disaster in the building of another part of the layout.

A disaster here and there are a part of the fun. I always use blue tack on points moving parts when ballasting.

I was just pleased that I hadn't built everything only for the engine to bump into the coal stage on its first run. Thanks for the tip about bluetack. I think I just have to stop being a wimp and get on and do it.

More work has been completed to build the incline to the Coal Stage including the linking span and raised headshunt. Enough work has been done to run the first train up to the unloading bay.

Hi Steve looking very good, the little Jinty certainly handles the incline with little effort although the driver is in need of some practice.

    Cheers Mike

Indeed he does Mike. Brand new engine with a bent bunker rail and cab roof. The shed foreman had a thing or two to say about that.

With time enough to spend on the layout some progress in this update for March 2020. The incline to the Coal Stage is now installed, with is supporting walls and scenic work. I also had time to replace my duff turntable (it couldn't survive my attempts to bodge a repair), and installed the lines which run under the Coal Stage and into the Engine Shed. A Peppercorn Class A1 makes an appearance on the layout, but not Tornado. Finally I discover why I have been dragging my heels over building the final raised section which contains High Elven the branch terminus. What more can you ask, and all, so far, virus free. Stay safe everyone.

As High Elven is planned, you are going to have to top and tail your goods trains, because your train engine is going to be stuck at the buffers end with no run around. Your tail engine is going to have to do the shunting.
Either that or reverse your train all the way up the branch.

Since there is an engine shed, presumably for the High Elven shunter, there won't be a problem ?

Sorry to be slow in replying Jim. The engine shed is for the shutter stabled at High Elven. That will free the engine that will bring in the goods. Stephen

After much debate about the track plan and prevarication, finally I start work on High Elven station. I also soho something that one of may subscribers has donated to the layout for which I am very grateful.

The build is quite something. I am still way behind with it Steve but will put a chunk of time aside to catch up. Wonderful stuff.

Two weeks having tripped by time for the latest update on the build of Elvenhome. I found myself unexpectedly kit bashing this week, and also installing an ash pit for the MPD.

Two weeks more of enforced modelling - oh the chore that has been. I have been kit bashing a Metcalfe Engine Shed into my terminus station for the Branch with its train shed. As part of that I have used a new kit for me from York Model Rail to get a more realistic look to the roof than is usual with a card kit.

I have been carrying on with the work to build the branch terminus and its goods yard. I have also started to lay out the track and to place the bow strip bridge that goes across the valley. N gauge can present tits won challenges in seeing everything clearly and I have both a new helmet magnifier. It have only had it a while but already I am really impressed. Finally I reveal what the next scratch build for the layout is going to be.
