    Hi
I like your thinking there Wolseley it is a shame. I dont really want to convert any Dublo ones as I think they are rather nice. I'm not sure that I want to go down the route of completely Colour Light signals either. I have adapted some 3 rail track so that I can use the 2 rail illuminated Buffer Stops. But they are not easy to find and tend to be expensive.
On the other hand Castle Hill station looks interesting, just a Castle on mine.

    Hello all
I am having a break from lighting at the moment, just the Goods and Loco yards to finish.
I have made a start on my next Linka project, this is a typical example of a 1930's Metro land Ideal Home. These houses are everywhere in the outer suburbs of London they were constructed as the Tube network expanded. As yet I don't know if this building will make it to Little Weldon or on to my proposed Tram plank I now have the Plank but as yet it is not fixed to the wall.
The major element on the facades of these homes is the two storey Bay Window. I have assembled one out of reworked Scalecast Bay Window castings. I have decided to use this as a master and make a new mould so that I can cast as many as I like, a possible Terrace certainly a pair as most of these homes are Semi Detatched. I shall include photo's of this once the Latex has cured.
Another Ebay auction win arrived yesterday. The Airfix Windmill a vintage kit from the eighties, this was much cheaper than the modern Dapol version I'm looking forward to building this.

Two photos of the Airfix Spitfire and the Coopercraft Bedford. The Spitfire is journeying to the local airshow whilst undertaking a low level flypast of Little Weldons Castle. I've just seen another job to do re-glue part of the Backscene.

Ah the Age of Modernity and the mass produced, post Arts & Crafts designer living Dublo and the leaded stain glass window lights... very chic indeed.:tophat: Little Weldon's station could be on a commuter line to the Metropolis now.

    Hello all.
Little Weldon is now celebrating is second birthday. To mark this I have stopped modelling at the moment, and started to run a few trains. Even some by "moonlight" with Little Weldons lights on. I tried to take a few piccies but not very successfully. I shall have to get my Camera out instead. I have some plans for the development of the layout. I shall be moving the unsuccessful smoke unit out of the Castles Watchtower and placing it in the Sand drier smoke rising up through the chimney of this building should look interesting. Install lighting in both the Goods and the Loco yards. For the Goods yard I have an Ancorton 3mm MDF Laser cut crane kit. I have also mocked up a short section of Brick walling to create the enclosed yard I originally thought of more modified Linka. I have been trying to find a suitable motor for the Airfix windmill something that will be nice and slow. I am also thinking that Little Weldon station will lose its Goods shed and acquire a Cattle Dock instead. All of that should keep me occupied for a while.

I do admire layouts built with models from yesteryear that stick to the level of detail that was possible at the time. Yours is a fine example of the craft.
Very consistent to the Dublo layout achievable in the era.
    cheers

    Hello all
Many thanks for your kind words Bob, in the main I have tried to keep as many of the scenic items as contemporary to the Meccano range. This has helped to create the feel of the layout, there are some modern products such as the Girder bridge which is 3mm laser cut MDF. But I have painted it in the same colours as the Dublo version therefore it doesnt stand out as anything different. Some of the buildings are also more modern, but as they are constructed out of Cardboard they blend in. The trees are all modern the bulk of which are cheap Chinese, I'm not after scale model trees I just want something to create an impression of a tree. I certainly would not be able to create such a quantity with commercial 1950's trees. The same goes for the layouts population all repainted cheap Chinese with the exception of the 12 cast Dinky toys people on Little Weldons platforms. During 1958 the Airfix trackside range was starting to be introduced so that opens up a considerable amount of potential items that can be introduced on to the layout.

    Hello all
As Little weldon is celebrating its 2nd birthday and Hornby is celebrating its 100th. I thought that I would replicate what the modern company is releasing as "Hornby Dublo" So here is my 1948 versions of Sir Nigel Gresley with 2 Teak (tinplate) coaches and the Duchess of Atholl.

    Hello all
I havent taken any Black and Whites for a while, I find these a very useful way of looking at my layout because you are seeing it in a different way. Hello all
Not much modelling happening on Little Weldon at the moment, but I have been running a lot of trains. Over the last week there has been some additions to the fleet.

Hi Dublo it’s great to see a Dublo layout, still one of my favourite types of railway modelling.
Your breakdown crane purchase looks a good one, thanks for sharing.

    Hello all
I have decided that having two Goods Shed's on the layout was limiting the range of trains I can run. Therefore the Superquick Shed at Little Weldon station will be closing down and will shortly be demolished. To make way for a newly completed Ratio Cattle dock which has been modelled up in a style appropiate to the remainder of the layout. This will then enable me to run trains with Cattle Wagons and or Horse Boxes. The HD Goods shed at Weldon
Freight yard will continue in service. IMG_20200406_172739.jpg IMG_20200406_172751.jpg

Nice cattle dock. As you say, that will give you a,little more variation on which to run. Nice work.

    Hello all
I have started on the casting of Little Weldons Goods yard boundary wall. I have made a new Latex mould to make it easier to produce. I made the Master out of modified Linka tiles. The two photos show the start of the mould making, and the finished mould with the first casting. IMG_20200407_163700.jpg IMG_20200409_153738_burst_01.jpg

    Hello all
A dry run of Weldon South Goods Yard wall. Additional buttresses and rear panels still to be fitted. I need to cast a further four panels along side the four that are drying. IMG_20200414_165127.jpg IMG_20200414_165202.jpg IMG_20200414_165147.jpg

    Hello all
A quick up date on Weldon South Goods Yard wall. All of the casting is now complete and the wall has been assembled into five separate panels, ready to be painted. IMG_20200417_170540.jpg IMG_20200417_170647.jpg IMG_20200417_170746.jpg

    Hello all
Little Weldon's Good's Yard wall is now complete. I painted it by dry brushing three different brick red colours followed by two really thinned washes of a dirty black. The lighting in the "Railway Room" has the tendency to flatten the details of the brickwork in the photos. I have included a photo of the next project for the Good's Yard.

    Hello all
I have completed the build of the Ancorton Models Yard Crane. What a lovely little kit this turned out to be I really enjoyed making it. All of the parts were removed nice and cleanly very little rubbing down needed. I used PVA applied with a cocktail stick as an adhesive, and Acrylic paints and washes to decorate. If any body wants a Yard crane thats slightly different have a look at Ancorton Models. I have no links with this company at all just a very happy model maker.
