Sorry for the absence folks. Had some commitments to attend to before Stanmore Hill so there has been no progress of yet. However some of you might take an interest in what modelling I have been doing. Recently I started playing with something a little bit smaller than 4mm/ft, 2mm/ft, American Style. The engine in question to these photos is a modified Kato japan with some Union Pacific coaches. The layout is the main layout at Sydney N Gauge, Blackfoot and New Meadows. A track plan of it is linked here:http://www.sydneynscale.org.au/LAYOUTS/BLACKFOOTNEWMEADOWS(2010).aspx
Nice loco Loch ! I just noticed that the Sydney N Gauge Club is just across Salt Pan Creek from where I live (Padstow) ! To tell you the truth, I didn't know it was there... I also read that there will be an exhibition at Gymea. I'll pencil that one in to the diary. Cheers, Gary. ps. I just realised the 'Upcoming Events Calender' is 2 years out of date !
Hi Loch, What a fantastic layout well done, as there has been a lot of hardwork and a lot of thought gone into.. Regards, Gloria.
Dear Gary and others, would it not be easier to use a U shaped piece of wire and not install the vertical tension lock arm ? Or if you need to couple up more than one Lowmac, why not use a fixed vertical bar instead of a moveable arm ? In both cases you eliminate the need to cut into the buffer beam, but still get a workable coupling bar out of it. This would also allow you to set the coupling Barat the correct height with minimal alterations ( 2 or 3 drilled holes ), Regards, Echidna
Dear Gary , that is the correct way to chain a tractor to a Lowmac. Timber chocks were also nailed to the wagon floor to prevent the wheels from moving whilst the train was under way. Nicely observed and modelled, Regards, Echidna
