Now we come to the outbound parcels counter where the goods porter would check all the parcels out, note the dirt build up in the corners which was achieved in the same way. The notice board would have general information attached such as traffic notices and a parcels zone map. Again the wooden board has been weathered to suit.

And a view over the parcels counter, I'm not to worried about the way things look behind the door arch as I'm going to fit a pait of double doors so detail doesn't matter too much here, I just need work out the door design and once fitted that will be all the main structural detail complete. Next job now is to move on adding in all the fine detailing to make the scene come to life. More on the at the weekend once I've made a few more bits and bobs.

Really well executed Yorkie. You can see the ageing of all the elements and the general neglect of decor and furniture as would have happened. once built, these buildings were not very regularly freshened up or maintained.

really good to be able to see the whole things progress in layers.

    first class.

funnily enough Toto that is exactly what SWMBO says too, she can see the ageing and general neglect of the decor as well, I keep saying what else do you want, I tiled the floor last year and three years ago purchased a new smart TV ... that had to be worth a few loco kits So if she keeps on I'll redecorate the lounge in Middle Brunswick Green Venetian Red and Deep Cream and if she is really lucky I'll add a one inch thich black dado band between the dark and light colours.:avatar:

That bench with the cream to show the wear is a pure work of art! :worship::worship:

Well a bit more progress and hopefully showing process as well as mistakes, so the tallboy cupboard as been filled with consignment notes and filed away in a prototypical manner, the porters ledger lectern recording inwards consignments for transhipment has been made, I've given this a base coat of something which when weathered will resemble BR Apple Green or Eau D' Nil... paint still wet when I took the picture today. Now I opted for a really old fashioned scalebeam type platform scale, its not absolute because the only references available are pictures but as a generic item it will set the scene I hope, a round dial Avery would have been way too modern. I want to create the timesphere on BR when there was still very much a heavy LMS influence but regional identity was there as well and of course the advertisment of the new electric modernisation of the main lines, stations like this one was very much on borrowed time.

So we have the clerk's Parcels Forwarding and Receiving Manual along with the balance book for cash recording stuffed on top of the counter cupboard, and an overhead view of the scales which will look much better when painted a nice dark brown colour.

Here's the scales again and a nice woolen hearth rug with the legend LMS, this was made from a picture of an actual rug sold at a railwayana auction some while back, I rendered the image to scale on Photoshop and then coated in with a smearing of cyano to protect the print... this was a trick Gormo described once on one of his workshop tutorials. Thanks Gormo that lesson came in very handy.

Now one thing that hasn't worked too good is the BR No Smoking sign ... its way too faint and will have to be redone by turning the colour depth up, what has worked is the ripped poster remnants stuck on the wall and the ancient and faded LMS network map glued onto the chimney breast.

Now I need to populate the room with goods and parcels and to make the clerk's desk and chair, we will be getting somewhere then.

More updates and progress reports in a day or two's time.

    Fantastic attention to detail.

You set the bar high.. way high.. no wonder I struggle at times with the 3D models... I know what level I’m trying to achieve for people!

Thanks Andy, I'm really only testing myself in the making process, its something I've always done. If this one looks good then the next one could look even better... well that's the principle of it anyway. :scratchchin:

I'd say your 3D model designing was also high up in scale and detail as well.

This may well seem that the same image is being bombed but there are subtle detailing differences and this is the essence of this competition to show updates and development of such within a limited space. The scales are scratch made and painted along with the lectern.

I do believe this is how many secondary line passenger station interiors looked like once in the days before Rail Blue.

Bit more of an update showing some more process and development of the idea, firstly I put the doors on which created the idea of another space in the entrance area. A backdrop behind the newly glazed window is being tested... more about this in a minute with another picture. Started making the clerks chair to go with the desk, just a few bits of plasticard ... still need to make the backrest as it looks like a child size chair at the moment. The parcels have been scattered on the floor with a few placed on the storage benches and the desk has paperwork too.

The detailing on your competition model is really good Yorkie. I love the clutter within the station building interior.

So we have LED's in the fire, a red, an orange and a flickering red all wired up with the resistors... just need to take delivery of the correct battery now which should arrive on Wednesday... so I'll update progress again then. Also some paperwork on the desk and a few more "To Be Called For" parcels on the bench awaiting collection by customers.

Here is an overhead view, outward transit parcels on the floor and some awaiting consignment on the porters bench, the doors are fitted (note the genuine North Staffordshire Railway gothic design with round brass door knobs ... the entrance foyer beyond the doors creates an illusion of space, the doors are suitably paint worn. I may revisit this and work on the paint surface a little more yet. Two notices are pinned to the board and the lectern is suitably weathered as is the scale plate with a little parcel on. Windows are now glazed and glass is a little grubby as you would expect.
