    Hi Jeff

There are a few ways to upload pics.

Couple of proviso's, firstly I am using a PC to upload my pictures to the forum. The forum will resize any pictures uploaded to a max of 1000 x 1000 pixels, however some of the newer cameras can produce images that are too big for the software to easily handle. So I normally resize my photo's before uploading.

    Now to the meat.....

    Method 1

    Cut and paste

You can copy an image from your screen, then paste it into the forum directly

    upload_2020-8-10_21-38-39.png

Above I opened up an image in Paint (Windows PC) then clicked on the Print screen button to copy the screen to the PC clipboard moved back to the forum clicked in the post and pasted the image into the post. - voila the image above.

I now highlighed the selected the area I wanted using the select tool - white dotted line in the image below below

    upload_2020-8-10_21-44-8.png

clicked on copy, then back in the post pasted the image below (keyboard shortcut Ctrl + v)

    upload_2020-8-10_21-45-19.png

At the bottom of the post you will see a list of the images you have posted into the post thread

    upload_2020-8-10_21-48-10.png

This method works, and is ok for one off's quick responses, but the better / preferred method is to use the gallery.
However one of the downsides these images are uploaded as Attachments, and after a period of time, the forum software does some housekeeping and places a shortcut to the image

    upload_2020-8-10_21-53-23.png

The image is still there but needs the reader to click on the link to get to see the image.
This is not an issue with the gallery.

    ==========================================================

    Method 2 the gallery

The Gallery allows you to create your own photo albums.

To get to the gallery, click on the media tab

If you haven't used the gallery before you will be asked to either add media to a category or an album.

    Select Album

    Select An album

Then click on Create an album

Give your album a name - I used "Paul_l Pics"

In the People who may ...... section Change the View Media to Members only, and leave Add media to album to Owner only.
This has the effect of allowing registered members to view your album, but only you can load images into your album.

    Click Create Album

Now its time to upload your images

Select your album then click on Upload Image, and select the image(s) you want to upload. There is a limit of 10 images at a time.

Once they have uploaded click on the Save Image - the images will now be saved saved to your album. You can have multiple albums, so if you wanted you could have an album per project.

To insert a picture from your album in to your post click on the Camera button in the menu bar for the post

This will open Your Media, select the image you want (the most recently uploaded images are at the top), by clicking on the image

In the thread post a text line will appear - as shown below

    upload_2020-8-10_22-9-8.png

    not the image.

The images will be displayed once you Post the reply.

Hope this helps, any questions just ask

    Paul

Sorry Peter I don't know how I missed your post!
I agree, I also came looking for some light relief, unfortunately, I've made the mistake of trying to
become more involved, by learning how to upload pictures to any posts I make.
All that's doing is giving me a headache!

    At last, I'm not alone!!
If you have a PC or laptop that you store your photos on, it is easy to post photos on to your thread post. This is how I do it.
Click on upload a file, if like me, you get a drop down on the left upper side of your screen with photo files on it. You can also click on downloads too and post them on here. Anyway, pick the photo you want to post and then click on open and it will come up below as a tiny photo and you will be given the option of posting it as full size or as a thumbnail that viewers will need to click on to see a larger image. Once it is uploaded, click enter a couple of times and you will be able to choose another photo by clicking on upload a file again.
If your system is different to mine then I'm afraid someone else needs to give you clearer advice.

    Cheers, Pete.

Okay, now I'm going to have a whinge!
I keep getting emails telling me there are posts in the thread I'm watching.
I haven't clicked on 'watch thread', in fact I have twice clicked 'unwatch thread'!
I don't need or want my inbox clogged up with unnecessary reminders to look at the forum,
I'm quite capable of remembering to look at the forum, in my own time!
    Please can this be resolved.

    Hi Jeff

In your profile, you had changed the setting to Yes with email - the default setting is No, I have changed the setting back to No for you.

Thank you, I thought I had checked all the settings, sorry.
But, now you might realise the challenge of getting me to post pictures!

No problem Jeff, hopefully things will become easier and you can enjoy the modelling rather than bogged down with the technology, just don't ask me to use a smart phone

Er, just had another 2 emails!
Checked the top of the page, and once again, the option to 'unwatch thread',
I've unchecked it twice already, it seems to change to 'watched' every time
    I post anything.

:scratchchin: hmmmmm we will get back on the case tomorrow ( probably evening ) it will be something simple. All the accounts were set to the same default for new members so to change that, something has been inadvertently clicked. We will have a further look.

I think it should say 'watch thread' when you are not watching it. If you click on it it changes to 'unwatch thread' which means you are watching it and have been given the choice to stop watching it. It doesn’t say 'watched' but 'watch'.

Correct, that's what it does say, but that's just semantics, the point
was that it seemed to reset itself to the thread being watched!
Luckily, nothing since last night, thanks guys.
