As a newcomer to this forum I thought I should put up some pictures of my layouts so first up is my scenic 7mm layout 'Rhywle Arall'. Living in rural West Wales I like to give a layout a sort of Welsh name but with a bit of silliness as well. This one means 'somewhere else' so if a viewer asks whether the layout is based on ... the stock reply is 'No, it's somewhere else'.

This shows the rear of the layout behind the backscene in an early shot. It consists of three boards 2'6" wide, the furthest from the camera being 5' long, as is the middle one. Behind the camera is the third which is 5' 6", giving the layout a total length of 15' 6".

This is the back of the third board showing the traverser which slides under scenery. The nearest two tracks are those seen running behind the backscene for storage of trains and in front of those is the track leading to the station on the scenic side.

The control panel with schematic plan. The green buttons fire appropriate point motors to allow travel along the relevant part of track. There are two types of toggle switch, DPDTCO which switch the sections to either of two controllers, and SPST ones towards the ends of sidings to switch dead sections On or OFF. The layout is DC controlled.

A picture from each end of the layout taken around October 2016 showing the scenic side of the layout early in construction.

    More to follow.

    Great layout.
As Toto said lots of operational potential and making the most of double slips to get maximum value from your space In O scale.
Like the extra storage at the rear as well.:tophat::thumbs::tophat:

Double slips are so useful in O gauge for saving space (length). As a newcomer to the scale it was frightening how much length was needed for pointwork, that is buying in RTR. It’s a great shame there is not a matching three way point in the Peco range.

The layout is based on the last one in the first GOG book of small layouts with a traverser being substituted for the sector plate in the original and since I had made the boards 6” wider than those in my source I had room to add in the behind the scenes storage sidings with the third double slip of the layout.
