Good evening and thanks for the welcome.
Actually York Paul you are the reason I joined as I read your report on the build of Steve Beattie's class 21 andd wanted to see the pictures aswell as the text.
Steve is going to make me a kit up hopefully.
I model O gauge with an end to end in my garage but get most satisfaction out of building kits, mostly brass.

The NBL class 21 builds up into a bullet bodyshell, now I have to be honest this one never got finished because of time mainly, my advice is do be very careful when handling the cabside window frame area as these form a very delicate part of the bodyshell and can easily become distorted. Ideally the two part cab roof segments in the ideal world require a form to shape them to the radius bend correct profiles, this is important to maintain a balanced appearance of the cabside and cab door areas when fitting out these areas. Regarding the castings the one which definitely needs a lot of attention is the buffer beam and front side valance which has an incorrect swage profile for the 21, I think you may find certain replacement items are required... possibly looking to purchase a set of resin replacements would do the trick.

    cheers Yorkie

    Thanks for the advice.
Where is it possible to purchase replacement resin items that are needed to make the build successful ??

There may be a few cab castings left over from a previous project Keith. I will need to check though so dont take it as read for the moment.

If there is, I'll come back to you.

    Cheers

As promised ....... here are the images starting off with the class 29. Now .... these are prototype pieces from my development of the EX Steve Beattie range which I now have the copy right to. these are not ( or should not ) be available from anywhere else. I have the copyright to the class 21 and 22, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 29. ( all variants ).

the class 29 cab with a pop out for the number board on the front.

    and the pop out .....

    and in place ......

and from the side which gives a better appreciation of the window frames etc which were one of the weak points when forming in the original brass etch due to the thin fragile nature of the pieces. You can also make out the rebated pocket for the cab door handles which run down the side of the door.

one of the inside of the cab which has the rebates for the matching up of the drivers desk. the drivers desk itself might still be available in my spare moulds ..... id need to check.

then onto the class 21 ......

from the front ..... all the markings for lights and stuff can be seen.

again, the side view shows the fragile nature of the windows etc which can be difficult but not impossible to create with the brass etches.

the inside view .... similar to the class 29 with the desk rebates etc.

    and another side view.

I have 2 of each for the class 21 and 29.

    cheers

    They look very impressive mouldings.
I am modelling class 21 D6123 when it was based at Ipswich so would much appreciate the 2 cabs for the 21.
Will send you my address on a pm.
Are you sure you do not want anything for them ??

    Hi Brinks.

Did not get your message but I have sent you one. You should just be able to reply to my message which is a bit like replying to a post really. I'm sure you will get the hang of it.

You are welcome to the moulds and they are free.

    Cheers

Does anybody have a solution to remove the residue from low tack masking tape which it has left on the original paint.
Was only on for about two hours altogether and has left what appears to be glue but am afraid to use anything abrasive for fear of damaging the paint.
