    As a separate structure this is the largest transfer house (TH) on the cement site, structure 26 on the site map.

    It receives cement powder via a sub-surface conveyor from the bulk cement storage silos (25), elevates and transfers it via an internal distribution system to two outgoing conveyors, one to the cement (carousel) bagging plant (32) and the other to the silos (27) for loading bulk cement wagons .

    Transfer House Operation

    Whether a simple standalone building or as an add-on, it is where conveyed material is transferred between conveyors, including when a horizontal change of direction is required. Typically the incoming conveyor arrives at a higher level than the outgoing, it discharges into a small hopper, which in turn discharges via a chute directing the material to the outgoing conveyor.

    The start of the outgoing conveyor has sideplates within the TH to ensure the material is guided to the centre of the conveyor so it is loaded evenly. Basic mineral conveyors are supported in a vee shape by rollers, uneven loading of a conveyor can cause it to shift sideways as the heavy material uses gravity to sit that part of the belt in the bottom of the vee. This causes undue wear to the edges of the belt and possible spillage.
