A couple of photographs taken recently of the light rail operating in Sydney Australia. The first photograph is taken in George Street, one of the two main shopping streets in the city, and the second is of the light rail/heavy rail interchange at Central Station.

For those who are interested in such things, they were taken on Ilford XP2 using a Leica IIIa fitted with an uncoated f3.5 5cm Elmar.

Very nice pictures ... and if I'm not mistaken the Leica IIIa is a film camera. Do you develop and print your own pictures? My dad and I took pictures of the last NSW steam locomotives in the late 60s. We developed and printed them in the kitchen at home (it was fun). It interests me that all the Sydney light rail sets seem to be double length which pretty much turns them into a train.

My son-in-law is a professional photographer here in Canberra. He took pictures of the Canberra light rail during testing in early 2019. They were taken at night (which is when they tested them) and are interesting as you don't often see night pictures.

Yes, it is a film camera, a rather old one too, made in 1936 to be precise. The lens is slightly older, being made in 1934. Here it is:

And, in spite of visiting Canberra regularly (one of our daughters lives in Aranda with her husband, daughter and dog) we haven't got around to travelling on the light rail yet. Las time we got ourselves a Seniors MyWay card each, with the intention of using them to travel from our hotel in Dickson to a restaurant in Braddon, but a change in plans meant we used the car instead.

Those photographs you posted show how effective night photography can be. I have taken a few night shots of trams in Melbourne, but little else.
