True, but they need to be the type that fit code 100 rail, the code 75 won't fit. I've bought some plastic replica fish plates from C&L for my next project as they look much more prototypical. You can also get brass and or nickel silver etched ones too in 7mm.

I had a bucketful, slight exaggeration, of code 100 fishplates left over from my OO layout so I was lucky.

You're steaming-along very nicely by the looks of it! I wish I could get on with things as quickly - at the rate I'm going, HS2 will be up-and-running before I'm done  Where my very basic point control (coat-hanger wire) goes under the rails, I've just used a little piece of clear plastic to cover it. I thought it'd be invisible, but as it catches the light rather too well, maybe black or brown would have been better.

Fingers x'd that 12April will see a mini-bonanza for the model shops and others. There's not really much I need or want, but am planning a little spending-spree in my local model shop to give a probably much-needed boost.

Is no one doing any mail order prior to the shops opening to the public?

I'm sure many are, but the novelty of buying online and having everything delivered has worn-off a little for me now :)

As I don’t have a local shop I have no choice.

I've got an O gauge Minerva class 14 "Teddy Bear" on order, hopefully they should arrive in the UK at the end of this month and will be posted out soon after. I've used Eileens Emporium a couple of times and CM3 models for dcc chips. I have also bought specialist tools from online sources, not necessarily model suppliers, I've got some useful jewellers pliers that cost an arm and a leg but make handrails much easier to bend. I've also used Andy Beatons Ragstone Models for some detail parts for my J69 builds though he is struggling to supply some parts.
Luckily I have a stock of kits and bits to keep me occupied for the foreseeable future, though I have just seen an email from Rails of Sheffield with a Hornby Peckett for £69......... hmmm.

Regarding the Peco fishplates, the 00/0 gauge ones don't fit onto the Marcway track as it's (I think) Bullhead code 124. You can by bodging them apart with a small screwdriver, make them go on, but they're not great, so I will be replacing them with Marcway's own when I can get over there. I did buy several packs but not enough, so I'll be substituting in the near future.
The only reason that I'm getting through the build fairly quickly Graham, is because I bought in most of the stuff I knew I'd need in advance, and as I'm retired and still reasonably fit, I have the time. Mind you, as Spring approaches, house maintenance (our bungalow is almost 100 years old) and 'SWMBO tasks' are on the horizon, so progress may well slow soon!:giggle:

I made the basic panel 'box' 40x20x20cm in 18mm and 9mm ply, and cut and folded an aluminium front which is hinged at the bottom and screwed at front and top edges. This will allow me to hinge it down to work on wiring, and I need to produce a 'layout drawing' which I can then drill and fit 3mm LED's into at points locations to show in which direction points are set. I've ordered 2 'Blocksignalling' points position modules (each module covers 8 points) which will show this on the mimic board and control via DPDT spring return centre off toggle switches and CDU the actual switching of the points. I cut an aperture in the left front of the panel to let the Lenz control unit show as the panel light indicates the unit is on, also shows (depending on flash rate) short-circuits. Once I have received the switches from China, I'll drill the panel appropriately and likely paint/varnish it. Point wiring is concealed to the panel in minitrunking to keep things tidy.

Another small job was to make up and grey paint spray some 'lineside boxes' to cover the point solenoids. As I may need to adjust them at some point, I wanted them fixed but easily removable should the need arise, so I glued a short length of 0.9mm brass wire into each front corner of the boxes, then drilled corresponding holes in the baseboard.

Once in position, no fixings are visible and they're easily removable if needed.

Plodding on, I got the four Tam Valley single Frog Juicers wired and sorted for points 1, 2, 3 and 10, these being on the outer ends of the layout. I'll be wiring and fitting the 'Hex Frog Juicer' to cover the 6 points nearer the middle, but as the intention is to hide that circuit board in an Intentio SR signal box (yet to be bought/built), I'll leave that until I know exactly where the box will be situated then wire the frogs back to that position. The single juicers are quite a small PCB, and in fact luckily (and I didn't plan this, 'cos I hadn't got the juicers at the time!) they fit nicely into the end of each of the 'lineside cabinets' I built to hide the point motors, jammy or what? I took up Gormo's suggestion of using plastic drinking straws (apparently now banned in the UK as we've gone back to waxed paper), this time as a 'conduit' for the wiring from each point back to the cabinets. It appears that brown were not made, and no black ones either, so I settled for a very pale yellow, as near transparent as I could get, the hope is they won't be seen by the time static grass, ballast etc has been applied.

The cabinets hide the frog juicers nicely as can be seen.
