Evening as I mentioned in my introduction my interest around the hobby of model railways lies with Era9 or the initial privatisation of the railways. I only have a small collection of locos and wagons from that Era but hope to add more as time goes by. I don't own a layout but I am a member of Shildon Railway Club. So I thought I would build a small photo plank to show some of my stock off. The photo plank is 400x100 mms. I hope you like my first progress picture..
Great start Kevin, I've made one myself in O gauge using an off cut of mdf board that came as a support for a new fire surround, it's about 4ftx12inches.
I will be having look at your plank build tonight as I saw it while browsing the forum. Hopefully I might see something that might work on my plank, albeit a different size.
This afternoon I have concentrated on the access road area which also runs over the tracks. This was done using filler, a squirt of pva glue and a few drops of dark earth paint. This will be left to set proper before the road is painted and weathered..
Moving along with my photo plank build. I have been enjoying building what will be the reminance of an old stone lineside building of hut. I have concentrated on the front view of the building and one partial end section. The grey paint is just an under coat before I start the weathering process..
Thank you Gormo. As you can see the old stone building is glued in place ready for weathering, which will be the next step. The access road looks better since I sanded it and added the first coat of paint. This road will not be tarmaced as a lot of service roads are not in the real world. This area will need weather considerably as it will need to show muck, grime and dust..
Hi I'm really happy with the weathering of the access road as these can be oily, grimey and dirty. I think I have captured this really well.
