ah yes of course... I recall now... just threw me for a second trying to recall detail from 50 odd years ago.

Progress has still been slow, but after finding some bargain LED’s at a garden centre I’ve started work on the internal lights.

I will use the stick down copper tracks on the other side to connect them together and to the battery so it’s all neat under the roof.

not much changed externally (the walkways have been temp removed for safety and the window bars yet to be fitted.

so, with also having a new Facebook group set up by Yorkie for the Leek model, I decided to do some more render shots.

Nice work on those ceiling lights. I'm guessing that they are wired to work by the looks of the central core and the winding around it.

    Cheers, Gary.

    Hi Gary,

yes, they have some small LED’s I found in a garden centre. Plan is to run some copper tape on the reverse and I have a small battery pack that will sit under the roof. (All hidden in the loft so to speak.)

what’s not shown are the three smaller lights, mainly as they are not painted and not happy with them. The led sticks out a bit too much.

I also want them on a different circuit so separate from the main lights

Nice. Makes sense having them on two separate circuits. You don't want to be left in the dark if one fails, they all fail !
Have you considered using fibre optics for the smaller lights ? Maybe a few strands out of a cheap fibre optic desk lamp could work ?? :scratchchin:

    Cheers, Gary.

You can buy lengths of optic fibre in various diameters from Ebay Andy, I've used it in a couple of Lima diesels to get front and rear lights where there isn't space to fit LED's. I used 6mm plastic rod drilled to fit an LED at one end, whichever diameter fibre(s) at the other then fit them where required. Just don't use 'Superglue to fix the fibre into the plastic rod though as it dissolves it, I just used 'UHU' clear which doesn't affect the fibre. (Need you ask how I found that out???):hammer:

If you've ever dismantled any of the Hornby 00 gauge Pullmans with 'Table lamps' Andy, that's how Hornby do it.

I’ve done a little to the model, which may or may not get printed.. but it finishes the externals off nicely..

    now including the telegraph pole.

great to know that we were finally able to finally lay to rest that elusive rear window arrangement which cause so much ache. Its looking spot on now Andy.

After seeing @steve Fay’s recent signal box, I decided it was time I grew some b@lls and started the brick painting.
I’ve opted to start on the lamp room/toilet first as that’s actually a write off model as the roof was broken and bodged when printed, but it’s done as a test part for now.. so I’ve given it a coat of terracotta for the mortar and then I’ll give it a dry brush with some brick red. (And then touch up the gulf red etc that I’ve spoilt in the process.)

with luck I may get to start on the main base soon (which is also an old model as doesn’t feature the rear locking room windows)

and back with the main box.

wish me luck for the next step. I can models, but these days, painting is a learning curve!

The lights are in, but to be raised (now don’t but not photographed)

this is what they should be like, so I was really hanging around too much! AD17DA9E-B2ED-40F1-A256-924764411083.jpeg 82F292B6-3CC3-45B1-93BC-7FDE1479589B.jpeg

also need to see if I can manage to create some of these bowl lights.
May just add some details like a ladder too!

Cheers! For once I’m a tad nervous!

Painted the main brickwork last night ready for the brick red

I will go back to the lamp hut for the bricks again first. See how we progress!

I’ve given the lamp room/toilet block a wipe with a dark red Vallejo paint (used an old Jay cloth) - first try so not sure what I was expecting. It’s not quite what I was hoping for, but I think it may pass for the late 1960’s period when it would look a tad run down.

finally back with the box base for comparison - I really need to make a small board up and add some grass around the footings.

the window still needs a repaint and also the glazing adding..

little bit of weathering soon and I don’t think that’s too bad for a first attempt?
