Very kind comments Toto and to keep the progress wheel turning I've added a mellow gas light look in the general waiting room... this station has all the mod cons.:avatar:

The toilet part didn’t pan out, so I continued with the stove for the waiting rooms and booking offices.

first of all, I’ll share a drawing I was sent which although useful, still
Left much to be desired! Still missing some sizes.

As anyone will see who is a modeller, yes it’s useful. But when you compare it to the photos below. There is much to be worked out or guessed.
    D5359DED-BD53-44EB-9442-15C3D7277930.jpeg 7CE2B702-5709-4B7D-AA78-641E17AE8F8C.jpeg 8638D4F0-C81C-4607-AEFF-F28B66AE2F84.jpeg

Here are the 3 photos of three different stoves we know if surviving in the public realm. The first two are at Cheddleton, one in the booking office and one in the museum, the third is at the Chasewater railway.

slightly different angle for the door details.

so that just leaves converting what sizes I have in to 7mm sizes and drawing it..

    wish me luck!

First pass.. this was actually V3. V1 was at 1:1 scale but just didn’t look right despite being from the original drawing specs.

v2 just wasn’t worth saving and was vastly wrong.

so we came to this and I was happy. Now drawn to 7mm scale it’s looking the part.
    81B1CD69-06A9-4214-8176-A01396E40EFD.jpeg
so made a start on the lower door and then the upper door.
    54A0A2CC-42A7-4EE5-8B33-4A04CC175A72.jpeg

    And all together…
    A0029016-7EB6-41EC-BF99-6BE99C19A469.jpeg

I now need to look at creating the Staffordshire knot and the NSR lettering that sits on each one. By my guess, I don’t think the letters will be more than a MM high… so see what we can do and what we can see come the printing.

    That’s all for this year.

happy new year to all the followers here.

That looks the part Andy, the colour really suits the cast iron finish.

And now on to the finishing touches before I start the base..

the last bit was to draw up the NSR Knot and the initials. I drew the knot out with a line then got one of the tools to trace the line with a tube.

unfortunatly, as it got half way around it crosses its own path and the computer says no. So I had to go with what I had and had half… so I copy and pasted and flipped it for a mirror image to get the final design.
This was then incorporated in to the doors.

    The stove..

Next on to the base ash tray.

If you think about it for a moment these stove pots would have been blacked up every so often with a graphite stove and grate paste which was to a point heatproof, I hardly doubt station staff would have picked out the "fancy" detail with a paintbrush dipped in white paint. I honestly think this "habit" originated in George Dow's book North Stafford Album, P34, Ian Allen, 1970. where he discusses the various presentations of the knot and shows a picture of an NSR bottom stove door nicely picked out in white. Mind you I'm probably just as bad to blame for this habit as I picked mine out too from a derelict stove I found at Alton station way back in 1969.

Thanks Pete… but we shall see when it’s printed… hopefully towards the end of the week- just pending some sizes for the base from someone who lives nearer the station than me!

And so, a short and simple update - photos and drawing came through and the base was made. I then went and drew up the larger stove.
    14B1910F-1DF3-4DEC-A61E-479FF4B6A8BF.jpeg
as it says, not to scale!! :giggle:

    82D7BB8E-A3A5-4FCF-89BF-E9CCF2AB6A53.jpeg

so knowing the sizes it was off to the virtual drawing board to create it. The base is not as detailed as the smaller one, there is no bottom trim, but it does feature a decorative panel
    On the front and sides.

and the little and large together.. (or is it Eric and Ernie?)

Of course Andy you could have kept the drawing full size and just scaled it down in the slicer. Makes it easier to make both 4mm and 7mm scale versions

    Great job tho'

Having delayed the toilet(s) for a while, I made a quick win part to print later with the stoves.

alongside the water columns are an inspection cover for an isolation valve to turn off the water feed to the external on/off valve handle.

    B0ADEB8A-FE19-48D4-A4C8-4B49B93D0BFB.jpeg

these were a simple 3ft x 3ft plate with NSR stood proud with tread marks.

    639580B7-536E-4D87-8544-14ABDB79E2BD.jpeg
Simple stuff. Box inside a box with 2 ovals in it and NSR on the front.

next to add the square blocks for the treads

    698DBCC6-F8E9-407B-952F-1F422CB04ABF.jpeg

They are 1/4mm high by 1/2mm long and 1/4mm wide
    947D4559-0E97-47DF-A555-F40446162D78.jpeg

Sorry about the poor screen shot for this. Changed it to its prototype colour but doesn’t stand out well.

hopefully get it all printed this week

Beavering away quietly in the background with track building now started, the track is glued to carrier boards which interlock onto baseboards... other carriers for the buildings will interlock together like a jigsaw. The reason for this is to create a level "top" for running without having the faff of adjusting and packing baseboard legs on uneven surfaces and also to help prevent movement in the framework as this is essentially a portable layout for occasional outside use.

The first seven feet of track for the Down line is now completed... working oon the next seven feet for the Up line.

And here is a goods train on its way to North Rode Junction.

And as if by magic ….

we have the large and small stoves and also the manhole covers
    0CBEA41B-D3BE-4C94-8EEB-F5E7448DAA81.jpeg

Had a failure so a stove was missed

sadly, the NSR couldn’t quite be defined on the cover plate. It is just over 1mm high.

Today I made a drain grid cover from pieces of scrap etch, the drain caught waste water from the south end water column on the station and the original one was made from wrought iron... big and heavy. The model one is 22mm x 26.5mm in size.
