Who do you use for the purchase of O Gauge rail products ? I am after metre lengths of " rail only " for incorporation into an engine shed build. I will be marrying it with peco flexitrack elsewhere on the layout. Suppliers and any experience / recommendations .... ie prompt delivery etc would be appreciated Toto
I've used 'Marcway' track, 598-600 Attercliffe road, Sheffield, S9 3QS, 0114 2449170 as they are only about 15 miles from me. They can also custom built pointwork to your requirements, and do a box of 10 x 1 yard lengths of code 124 'wooden sleepered' track for £60 + P&P, and I understand they supply individual track components also. Website if interested, marcway.net NO connection except as a satisfied customer, but I've only collected as opposed to mail order so can't vouch for their delivery. Hope thats of help. Keith.
Thanks Keith, I spotted their site and I am considering them. .... there is another well known supplier of similar but I understand that Dundee had major issues on delivery times. ( they shall remain unnamed) . I am in no immediate rush but would like delivery guaranteed with a reasonable timescale ... say a week or two. I need 9 x metre lengths to complete. I believe the various chairs come with my kit, I'll check that. I would imagine they would fit the Marcwsys Bullhead rail ok. Thanks for now Toto
What about Peco from Hattons. https://www.hattons.co.uk/35695/pec..._silver_pack_of_six_914mm_lengths/stockdetail OR https://www.hattons.co.uk/35693/pec..._silver_pack_of_six_914mm_lengths/stockdetail
I think I know the 'well known supplier of similar' you refer to, he has something of a reputation for slow supply I understand! His stuff is good quality, but that's no consolation if he doesn't get off his backside and actually despatch the stuff. I gather that if you pre-order for collection at a show, he's ok, but as he's 'down south' and you're 'up north', that's not a lot of help! Best of luck with it. Keith.
OR https://www.hattons.co.uk/35693/pec..._silver_pack_of_six_914mm_lengths/stockdetail[/QUOTE] Thanks for that. The bullhead would be the one. Hattons are normally good on delivery as well. Cheers Toto
And will the true Scotsman step forward Next up you'll be building your own points - now that will be interesting
Too much faffing around .... track building in general. If I manage to fit 8 straight lengths co Pete with chairs etc to my engine shed, I'll be happy thanks. Toto
That's for complete track from Marcway though Brian, not just lengths of rail. They do sell track components separately, but I've no idea of price, hence why I gave the website address so Toto could check if interested. Keith.
So it is, I didn’t check that because Toto was enquiring about lengths of rail not complete track. I thought the answer was referring to that.
I seem to purchase my o gauge bullhead track and items from Hattons, this is due to there good postal services.
