    Working on extension to the rear of the layout. Mildly kit bashed the Scalescenes Creamery low relief model, to give purpose to the milk wagons. The alterations where carried out with scraps 2mm board and leftover ply wood. New sidings to be installed. Waiting on some secondhand points I won on Ebay. Picture shows a rough idea for the sidings, this is not set in concrete, as I'm bound to change my mine when points arrive. 20220731_114752.jpg 20220731_111757.jpg 20220731_114848.jpg

    Nice work on the creamery and it hides the tunnel portal nicely.
    What points (brand) do you use/won on ebay ?

    Nice work on the creamery and it hides the tunnel portal nicely.

    Cool score off fleabay....the low releil looks great too...I need to get some more work done on my layout...
    I been playing with kits and the phone cam too much me thinks.

    Three peco points, one atlas point and unknown crossover. Only need the three peco points. Still a good buy for $50 including postage. Just hope they are in good condition.

    On the mainline I use Peco only. The sidings I use whatever is available, mixture of hornby, Atlas and Peco.

    Using whatever is available is usually the practical and economic approach. Why pay for commercially produced items when you can scratch build many solutions from simple every day components or reuse bits and pieces from the "overs" box.

    Points arrived yesterday for new siding project. Three of the secondhand points I bought off e bay, were brand new condition, so I replaced two old hornby points on the mainline with the e bay Peco points, managed to get four roads on the space available. Road one, is for storage of a passenger train. Road two, is for access to the newly built dairy. Roads three and four, is for train storage.

    Nice transformation. :thumbup: Train storage or staging yards are important for any model railway. I just wish that I had of planed my staging yard/fiddle yard earlier !

    I just ordered a 3d printer. "WHAT HAVE I DONE!" :facepalm:

    Didn't want anything too fancy so I gone for the Elegoo Mars 2 mono 2k . $259 Aussie dollars. Seems like a good starting point too see how I go. Wish me good luck. Downloaded FreeCad which I have been playing about with gears for my 03 shunter.

    All of my trains are DC and getting on the old side . Spare parts are hard to get. So 3d printing is the only option. Making gears is fairly straight forward. Using a Free Cad. Be interesting to see how I get on printing them out. I'm sure there will be a learning curve. But between the forum and you tube, l will nut it out.

    Made sure I could use the Cad and slicer first before I ordered the printer. Very pleased with the results so far. The printer arrives next week, all looks encouraging so far.
