Not a common sight these days, "Double Header" Black 5's on the "Tin Bath" special at Dore station on the outskirts of Sheffield. Attached files
.....and that's about it for the moment, at least until I have the chance to investigate more of my files. Enjoy, and Gary, the NRM pic's just scratch the surface of what's at York, so when you come over, it's one for the 'bucket list' if you have the opportunity, and hope to see you there. Keith.
Great photos Keith, like the Barrow Hill photo with the A4's. They are reopening the shed very soon after some refurbishment, I won't be going, they are charging an exorbitant entry fee £22, £11 for kids,£53.50 family!!!!. Cheer's, Pete.
I share your pain with Photos Keith, the old I-photo was much easier to get images out to a forum like this, now I have to go through and export the ones I want, rather than just finding them in a "film roll" in finder. Or is there a better way? Great photos there, most of those locos I have only ever seen in old b/w coffee tables books or as models. It's great to see ones that I have as models. A reminder too of how ugly some things can get, at least to my eyes, I'm sure others will disagree with me here, but there are some things there that would never seen the light of day on my railway! Cheers Tony
You're quite right Tony, 'iPhoto' is a pain in the a*se! Before I can post a pic, I have to drag & drop each one from 'iPhoto' to 'Pictures' in 'Finder', this because any photo I add defaults to iPhoto since Apple wants to push it's own products rather than allow others. Although I have my 'favourites' like you, I take the view that the 'real' railway had "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" so I have them too, together with loco's that never saw 'Southern ' metals (to my knowledge), like the "Deltic" prototype (although I saw this many times at Retford on the ECML), "Kestrel", Class 17 "Claytons" et al, and of course I am in the process of building the GT3 prototype, but these are a 'just 'cos I like them, 'cos they're different!' choice. I guess "Rule1" applies along with a couple of shovelfuls of 'Artistic licence'. I do enjoy getting around some of the preserved lines and seeing loco's doing what they were built for, and fortunately, living in the middle of England (200 yards from my home is a tree marking the 'Geographical Centre of England), I'm well placed to get to many and home again in a day. I'm now 70, and seeing these loco's is like my being a kid again, although they were never as clean as they are now all those years ago. Keith.
Agree with you Keith, I'm going to a stargazing long weekend at Kelling on Thursday in North Norfolk just a few hundred yards from Weybourne station on the NNR.. Will be taking a few photo's I'm sure, I will check and see what loco's are running... Ron
Great pics Keith. You realise you are just teasing me with those pics from the NRM ! Interesting to see that the typical BR black steam loco livery was applied to the ex-Woodhead loco 26020. Now could you imagine all the BR diesel fleet in that livery... Cheers, Gary.
